“Jackhammer” Truck & Tractor Pull This Saturday!
LFD presents Annual Scholarship Fundraiser

Another year has come and gone, and it’s time once again for The Terry “Jackhammer” Driver Annual Scholarship Fundraiser Truck & Tractor Pull this Saturday night, June 1, 2024 beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the Macon County Fairgrounds. The Middle Tennessee Puller’s Association will be proudly presented by the Lafayette Fire Department with admission set at $15.00 for 6 years & up, and 5 & under get in free.
Terry Driver, or Jackhammer, was an all around community spirited person, who passed away in 2003 at the age of 44, after a courageous year long battle with leukemia. He was Deputy Chief when he died and every time the bell went off at the Fire Hall, he was there, ready to help, wherever he was needed. The fire department has retired his unit number 523.
The department started the truck pull in Jackhammer’s name to help keep his spirit alive in our community, by awarding scholarships to emergency personnel’s children here in Macon County with an emphasis on the children of all firefighters. Throughout the years the department has awarded many scholarships to students here in Macon County, to help further their education.
According to fireman Michael Evetts, Jackhammer always loved going to truck pulls and years ago, he helped a guy out, who was stranded on the side of the road. After he died, the department contacted this man, Anthony Young, from Kentucky, who made it to their first fundraiser and after he placed second, he donated the money back to the fire department. A lot of local pullers have also donated their winnings back to the department. All the firemen are proud to be hosting this event in honor of a truly wonderful man and a great firefighter, who was an inspiration to all of them.
“The Truck & Tractor Pull is our main project for our scholarship fund and we graciously invite everyone to come out this Saturday night, June 1, 2024, to enjoy the show and help us keep Jackhammer’s name alive,” said Michael Evetts. “There will be concessions available.”
For more information about the pull contact Michael Evetts at 615-561-0404 or the Lafayette Fire Department at 615-666-2190.
Gates open at 3:00 and there will be a $25.00 hook up fee.
