Congratulations to our 2024 winners of the Shirley Marten Scholarship for Young Songwriters! First place went to Corbin Stanchfield for his song “Not Very Nice”, Lindsay Lowe got runner up for her song “Perfect Monster”, Cashen Holmes was awarded the Mike Lane Horizon award for his song “The Party”, and an honorable mention went to Isabella Bradley for her song “The End of the Tunnel”. Congratulations all and thank you to our amazing community for their support of this scholarship!

Songwriters in the Round tonight with Lafayette legends Michael Kelsey, Scott Greeson, and Jeffrey Bowen at the Arts Federation Theatre! All proceeds go for the support of the Songwriters Association of Mid-North Indiana. Doors open at 6!

Over the years with the Shirley Martin Scholarship for Young Songwriters we’ve been able to leave an impact on many young people. Some are still involved with SAMI and our local music community to this day! If you are a songwriter between the ages of 14-19 and reside in local counties (listed on application) please consider applying for this scholarship! Deadline is April 2nd!

Our 2023 winner of the Shirley Martin Scholarship for Young Songwriters was Maddy Conner! As well as receiving the cash prize, she was also able to record her winning song “From Me Now” in our studio. Throughout the years this scholarship has been able to make a difference in many young people’s lives and given them the encouragement they needed to pursue music. I love watching musicians thrive! It’s especially gratifying to see young musicians finding themselves. Over the last 32 years I have been able to witness the power of community when we support each other in our craft, in particular the craft of songwriting. The Songwriters Association of Mid-North Indiana has supported countless youth since its inception in 1992. This morning I was blessed to work with Brooks Burnette, an inspiring young engineer, producer & creator. Brooks is a senior at The Greater Lafayette Career Academy. Part of his graduation requirements are to work as an Intern at REC Room Recording located at The Arts Federation - TAF. He is phenomenal at what he does and will continue his studies at Purdue University Fort Wayne next year!
Proud of you Brooks! Can’t wait to see what your future brings.

It’s that time again, announcing the 2024 Shirley Martin Scholarship for young songwriters! Winners will receive cash awards and studio time. All participants will receive professional feedback about their song submitted. Must be between the ages of 14-19 and reside in the listed Indiana counties. Deadline to submit is April 2nd!

Update for our show this Saturday: Sadly Boston Counterpart can no longer join us because of a drummer injury but we now have some more time to hear from Cat’s Pajamas and Week Long Flight! Also door price has been reduced to $3!! No excuses now, join us for a great night of music this Saturday night at the Guac Box!

2023 was a great year for us and we are so thankful for all of the opportunities that came with it! We hosted the Shirley Martin scholarship award ceremony for winners Maddy Conner, Corbin Stanchfield, Carly Bryant, and Faith Elizabeth Terborg. Nashville producer Matt Coles tracked for an upcoming song by Scott Greeson with help from Lee Anna Atwell and Malachi Jaggers. We had our 2nd DIY Workshop with teaching from Ronan Chris Murphy, Steven Memel, and Liz Redwing. Got to work with lots of great artists in our studio including Atlys, Bill McFadden, Gabrielle Elise, Eric Hicks, Lauren Grace, Freakonomics radio, and so many more. We also had our first intern ran live show in December and several other great events throughout the year. Thank you so much for your support! Excited to see what this new year brings.

We had an amazing show last night at TAF! Great music from Free Joel, The Cheswicks, and Blackheart Gypsy!! Thank you so much to everyone who came out to support our first of many shows like this. This night was a particularly special because this was our first show ran by our team of amazing interns and organized by staff member Lauren Mills! See you at the next one!
