Made a tiny little shortfilm at work
I fixed my render! Pretty proud of this. The character is done! It's a scary milestone though because now I have to actually make the short film haha
Ah crap. This is what happens when you forget to bake your simulations before you render. The flashing is actually his cloth skirt glitching off into another dimension. Time to re-render!
Testing out the other character for the short film now. The animations from yesterday turned out to be a good "stress test" so I just used them again on her.
Rigging and motion test for my short film. This is motion capture, and the armor plates are hand keyframed. The goal was to test my armor design to see if I could get good poses without too much clipping despite it's bulk. The results are way better than expected. I also wanted to practice some realistic camera moves. It think it's crucial in CG to make sure the camera only does what a real camera can do. The second shot is an example of the absolute limit to how far I want to push the camera. It was inspired by the "Marvel-Oner." I wanted to make sure the camera was in place for the best key poses of each strike without making it fly around too wildly. Hopefully it communicates power. I think I accidentally made the sword the main character but I'm not mad about that haha
3DScanStore just released an article for how to map their facial expressions on to any character, so of course I had to try it! It's cool to see these scan-based expressions on a custom sculpted face. But there are a couple of minor things to fix before I'd use them. Makes sense. Every face is vastly different so I doubt there's a universal one click solution. I'm really excited about this though!
Always nice to put characters up on mixamo real quick to bring them to life and let you know you’re going in the right direction. #zbrush #maya #cgi #substancepainter #characterdesign #mixamo
