When appeared in our East Knoxville neighborhood I immediately loved everything they were doing—growing gardens, making art, and teaching workshops on a tiny scrap of land up on the ridge.
Now the visionaries behind that project have pulled together Knoxville’s first ever small press publishers fair. We are so happy to be a part of . Part Flamingo will have a booth at the Emporium this weekend selling our books, including our newest book, Starlight in the Garden. It’s going to be a great scene! Can’t wait to see what Knoxville’s printmakers, zine makers, small presses and micro presses have to offer.

What kind of book is this? The kind of strange artists book you might find in a hole-in-the-wall independent bookstore many years after the obscure publisher has fallen into even deeper obscurity. Tender and maybe frightening, about the hum-drum reality of survival. Set in Knoxville, Tennessee (of all places!) and also the dimensions close by. We worked on this small book for so long. It’s wild to release it finally. But here we are.

Something that I wish existed—a big art book of Zachary Hall’s Knoxville photographs. Zack photographs the parts of Knoxville I adore. The weedy back alleys, crumbling old buildings, rusty cars, old tires—Longtime followers know he can’t resist a pile of old tires. At this point, he’s captured many beautiful places that no longer exist, swept away by the wrecking-ball of progress.
This book doesn’t exist, but you can scroll through his account and see some of the best of Knoxville through his unique perspective. 🛞🌱🧱
He’s also a great writer!

Did you know, you can access Underground Knoxville—the labyrinth of tunnels beneath the streets of downtown Knoxville—from Arrowmont’s new basement gallery on Gay Street? From the showroom you can see just a bit of concrete steps leading into the dark and to a subterranean lake full of magical creatures, I assume. 🧜🏽‍♀️🐉
