We spent a good chunk of our day exploring the Annie Louise Wilkerson, MD Nature Preserve Park, managed by Raleigh Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department.

This park is so pretty! Between their woodland fairy village, incredibly helpful staff that helped us borrow their fairy backpacks, and the pretty trails, it was the perfect way to spend an autumn day with family. 🥰

I’ve gotten a few questions lately like this:

Friend: “So, how’s the blog going?!?”

Me at 10:20pm: “Slow going… but look at this C Clever Cat headband I just made for my daughter’s Letterland Parade tomorrow!” 😻😂

Mom life vs. personal ambition can be a tough balancing act of which I’m still working through. But love my Eastern Wake neighbors and towns all the same! 🫶

The Town of Knightdale is partnering with Northside Community Church to collect supplies for Western NC. We will be collecting supplies this Saturday, October 5th, at the Fall on First Avenue Festival 11:00 am - 2:00 PM at the Northside Community Church table. The supplies will be taken to Spruce Pine, a hard-hit area and isolated community between Asheville and Boone. Below is a list of the items being collected:

Apple Sauce, Baby Cereal, Bar soaps, Crackers, Diapers, Dry milk, Formula, Fruit Cups, Fruit rolls, Gas cans, Hairbrushes, Hygiene items, Instant Oatmeal, Jerky, Mouthwash, Paper products, Peanut butter, Protein bars, Raisins, Shampoo/Conditioner, Snacks, Socks, Soups /Chili cans, Spam, Toothbrushes, Toothpaste, Water, Wipes

Please come out to the Fall on First Avenue event this weekend, and consider dropping off some donations for our neighbors in the Western part of the state.

Per the NC Department of Public Safety, the best/safest way to make monetary donations is via the North Carolina Disaster Relief Fund, managed by the United Way of NC. These donations will be used to provide grants to nonprofits working directly in impacted communities. Visit http://www.nc.gov/donate to make a donation.

Wishing all of our first responders safety and so grateful for their service. 🫶

Members of our water rescue team have been deployed to the Western part of the state along with Wake Forest Fire Department’s water rescue team.

The two teams are staging at Spruce Pine Fire and Rescue with six firefighters from each of the two departments. The teams have: three motorized boats, two rafts, an ATV, and a communications trailer.

For anyone wondering how you can help the people of Western NC, here’s a good resource for you. Our hearts go out to those devastated by Helene, and we are hoping your loved ones are staying safe.

Western North Carolina was crippled by historic flooding and life-threatening conditions from the impacts of Tropical Storm Helene. Many organizations are working to support those in need during this difficult time.

“Wake County Public Libraries announced Monday that it has partnered with Tutor.com, which says it has more than 4,000 expert tutors in more than 250 subjects.. Library cardholders can get personalized help in subjects like math, science, English and social studies.

The service is open to learners of all ages, both children and adults.”
