It was purchased in 1972 by Lew M. Williams Jr. and his wife, Dorothy, and currently is owned by Lew M. Williams III and his sisters, Kathy and Tena. Opened in 1934, the Daily News publishes the news and photographs of southern South

east Alaska, featuring the waterfront, the arts, business, education and sports. It also provides news highlights from around Alaska and throughout the nation and the world. The Daily News' newsroom staff of eight provides 24/7 news coverage, while the newspaper is published six days weekly — Monday through Saturday. The newspaper is supported by both individual and business advertisements, and a commercial printing plant owned by its parent company, Pioneer Printing Co., Inc. The Daily News and Pioneer Printing are located in the center of downtown Ketchikan.
