NEW SCAM ALERT-1/23/2025-An aggressive call campaign from "unknown number" is affecting Ketchikan. The scammer claims to be Officer Robert Anderson, and he provides a fake badge number. He states that you failed to appear for a Federal Grand Jury, that you returned Jury cards, so you know that you should have appeared. He knows your name, and both your physical and mailing address. The scammer provides you with citation numbers starting with FTA- and COC- and then states that you will be arrested; cops are on the way, and you will be taken to court to be arraigned. The fine is supposedly 60 hours community service, 72 hours of jail time, and/or $5000 fine per offense. He then gives the option of paying the fine over the phone. THIS IS ALL FAKE. Anyone who has applied for a PFD and is 18+ of age has their mailing and physical address available on the AK Voter's registration page, so getting your info is easier than it should be. Hang up if you receive this call, or set your cell phone to block unknown numbers. Do not answer unknown numbers on your landline. Do not return calls to this number: 404-345-6170 (unless you want to play around with the scammer). KPU was able to find the number behind the "unknown" and determined that cell he is calling from is based in Atlanta and is with Cingular Wireless.

Ketchikan,

We have received reports from city leaders regarding heavy rainfall and concerns from citizens. Looking at satellite precipitation products, the heaviest band of rainfall (in green below) is moving off to the east.

In the next 1 to 2 hours rainfall rates and amounts will decrease as this plume continues shifting east, with light rain showers likely over the next 24 hours.
