On Sunday evening, September 1, 2024, the Iroquois County Sheriff’s Office was involved in an incident that concluded in Sheldon, IL, which resulted in a Newton County, Indiana, Sheriff’s Deputy being critically injured. The Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigation has taken over the investigation. The Sheriff’s Office asks that any media inquires be directed to their Public Information Office. Likewise, any additional updates and/or details will be provided through the Illinois State Police. We ask that you keep the injured Deputy and the other Officers involved in your thoughts and prayers.
