Euphoria actor Jacob Elordi and Bridgerton actress Phoebe Dynevor are among five Bafta rising star nominees for 2024.

The Bear star Ayo Edebiri, How To Have S*x actress Mia McKenna-Bruce and Talk To Me’s Sophie Wilde are the other contenders named during a press conference at the Savoy Hotel in London on Wednesday.

The prestigious gong, which has been awarded since 2005 to the likes of Tom Hardy, Bond star Lashana Lynch, Spider-Man actor Tom Holland, John Boyega and2023 winner Emma Mackey, is the only major film award voted for by the public.

Australian-born actor Elordi has recently starred in Saltburn, a thriller about British high society set in 2007, and as Elvis Presley in Sofia Coppola’s biographical drama about the famous musician’s ex-wife, Priscilla.

The 26-year-old, also known for Netflix romance trilogy The Kissing Booth, said he was ‘deeply honoured’ to be recognised.

His forthcoming projects include a Second World War series, based on Richard Flanagan’s Booker-winning novel, The Narrow Road To The Deep North, and Oh Canada, also starring Hollywood stars Uma Thurman and Richard Gere.

Dynevor first hit the big time back in 2020 as the lead Daphne in the first season of Bridgerton (Picture: Getty)

Dynevor, 28, is best known for Netflix’s Bridgerton, in which she plays Daphne, who has a romance with the Duke of Hastings (Rege-Jean Page) in the first season.

She has gone on to star in Netflix finance psychological thriller, Fair Play, about a relationship between co-workers, biopics The Colour Room and Bank Of Dave, and is set to appear alongside Zoey Deutch in Anniversary.

Dynevor said her nod is ‘a testament to the hard work of the entire team on Fair Play who brought this film to life’.

The English actress added: ‘I am truly grateful for this recognition and excited to continue challenging myself with new roles and projects.’

Edebiri, 28, who is in 2023 teen comedy Bottoms about a fight club started to find romance, said it is ‘wonderful and humbling to receive this nomination’.

The American comedian, writer and producer won a Golden Globe on Sunday for best television female actor in a musical or comedy series as young chef Sydney Adamu opposite Jeremy Allen White in Hulu hit The Bear, and has been nominated for an Emmy for the same role.

Wilde was excited for a horror film to be recognised, after her turn in Talk To Me (Picture: Getty)

McKenna-Bruce made a splash in Molly Manning-Walker’s How To Have S*x (Picture: Getty)

‘It’s the greatest privilege to tell stories and make people laugh,’ she said. ‘I know I’m in esteemed company and this means the world.’

McKenna-Bruce has received a rising star nomination off the back of her critically-acclaimed performance in Molly Manning-Walker’s coming-of-age film How To Have S*x, which first screened to acclaim at Cannes last year.

She has already scooped the best lead performance prize at the British Independent Film Awards (Bifa) for the Greece-set film about a teenage holiday.

McKenna-Bruce is also known for Netflix’s Persuasion and BBC series The Dumping Ground and Tracy Beaker Returns.

The 26-year-old British actress said: ‘To hear that I now stand amongst the past and present nominees is surreal and a total dream come true. I am so very grateful. Thank you to the jury.’

Wilde said she is ‘so very excited and grateful’ for her nomination and happy that horror film Talk To Me, about students who mess around with a hand that can possess people, is being recognised.

The 26-year-old Australian has also been in BBC drama You Don’t Know Me, ITVX’s Henry Fielding adaptation of Tom Jones and Netflix teen comedy Everything Now.

Voting is now open at http://ee.co.uk/Bafta and the winner will be announced at the 2024 Bafta Film Awards in February.

The Netflix thriller has got everyone talking (Picture: Vishal Sharma/Netflix)

Right now in the landscape of TV world, it appears everyone is talking about Michelle Keegan’s new Netflix thriller Fool Me Once.

Some people have claimed they’ve even called in sick to binge-watch the gripping drama, which also stars the talented Dame Joanna Lumley and Richard Armitage in the cast.

However, others have expressed their fury over what appears to be an inaccuracy in the programme.

One of the characters on the show is military officer Shane Tessier, played by Emmett J Scanlan.

In certain scenes, Shane is seen in his military gear, including his camouflage-patterned uniform and a red beret.

However, the positioning of the beret, and its design, has been cause for frustration among some eagle-eyed people who tuned in to watch the eight-part series.

One X user called Clive, who describes himself on his profile as an ‘ex Royal Signals SNCO’ (senior non-commissioned officer), wrote: ‘So many crimes against Military Dress, especially berets in .

‘For the love of God get a military adviser who knows how to dress like a soldier!’

Another person who goes by the handle claimed that the character was wearing ‘the wrong kind of red beret, which doesn’t even fit’.

They continued: ‘He looks unmilitary and ridiculous.’

‘Hi as a British Army Veteran can I offer a free service for how to correct display British soldiers?’ they wrote. ‘Wrong cap badge, not shaved, beret worn wrong.’

Former military police officer Mike Neville told MailOnline: ‘What most people are annoyed about is his appearance with the beret – looks and is worn like something Frank Spencer would wear.

‘People expect to wear the right things in shows like this. The correct dress is important otherwise it can be seen as disrespectful.’

Victoria Beckham created a gown just for her 12-year-old daughter Harper Seven, and the reaction has been enormous.

The former Spice Girl, 49, has four children with footballer husband David Beckham, 48, with eldest Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz each kicking off their adult lives and careers.

The couple’s youngest is daughter Harper who celebrated her 12th birthday last July, and who shares a close bond with fashion icon mum Victoria, last year attending her Paris Fashion Week show.

Victoria has now shown off the dress Harper wore to the luxury event – and revealed she designed it herself.

The proud mum took to Instagram to show the design, modeled by Harper who stood on a staircase smiling, her hair neatly tied back and silver open-toed heels on her feet.

Clutching a white bag, the simple but elegant cream dress flowed to her ankles, with thin white straps on her shoulders.

Victoria wrote: ‘I designed this exclusive Midi Cami Dress with to wear at my runway show in Paris!! I love the colour and how simple, yet elegant the silhouette is, paired with my Mini . Kisses xx.’

The design has had a huge reaction from Victoria’s 32 million followers, who flooded the comment section praising the design and Harper herself.

Influencer Carlyshomeideas wrote that Harper ‘looks so sweet and very beautiful,’ with Helen Marie agreeing ‘so so beautiful.’

Riya Tailor praised the ‘cutest mother daughter relationship,’ and Carolyn Portanova said it was ‘so elegant and yet not making her look older than she is. Just beautiful!’

‘David and Victoria do a great job raising their children,’ user Sw33tspice3 ,’ with Chelsea Parks replying ‘yes they do, very humble.’

Harper is the only girl of the Beckham siblings, but Victoria and David’s eldest child, 24-year-old Brooklyn, married billionaire heiress Nicola Peltz in 2022, and Posh appears to have forged a close relationship with her new daughter-in-law – after initial rumours of a rift between them.

This week the Wannabe singer took to Instagram to mark Nicola’s birthday, sharing a video of the pair dancing on the beach together.

‘Happy birthday … We love you so much!! Your love, kindness, talent and your ability to dance on sand in a major wedge!!😂,’ Victoria began in the caption.

‘The best dance partner and loving daughter in law. We love you, have an amazing day!’

The former Spice Girl recently celebrated her daughter-in-law’s birthday following feud rumours (Picture: Victoria Beckham and Nicola Peltz / Instagram)

Nicola previously addressed speculation around a so-called feud with Victoria, rubbishing the claims as she conceded that ‘no family is perfect’.

The Bates Motel actress was accused of snubbing an offer to wear one of Victoria’s designs as her wedding dress, leading to frostiness between the pair, but the actress shut down the rumours.

‘It’s not a feud! I keep seeing everywhere that word, “feud, feud, feud!”’ Nicola said.

‘I don’t know why they say “feud”? I mean, maybe they picked up on something? And now they’re labelling it feud?’

‘No family is perfect. No family,’ she told the Sunday Times in October 2022.

A ‘groundbreaking’ agreement regarding the use of AI voices in video games has been met with widespread criticism from voice actors.

Following the Hollywood actors and writers’ strikes last year, the ethical and financial concerns around the use of artificial intelligence in the entertainment industry has been thrown into the spotlight.

The issue extends to video game voice actors too, with the idea of developers having access to a digital voice replica of their performances potentially reducing demand for their work and, in turn, affecting their livelihoods.

The Screen Actors Guild (SAG-AFTRA) union and AI voice technology company Replica Studios announced a ‘groundbreaking AI voice agreement’ on Tuesday, which claims to help actors ‘safely explore new employment opportunities for their digital voice replicas with industry-leading protections tailored to AI technology’.

According to the announcement post, the agreement will allow Replica to ‘engage SAG-AFTRA members under a fair, ethical agreement to safely create and license a digital replica of their voice’ – citing it for use in game development and ‘other interactive media projects’ from pre-production to final release.

While the announcement states that the deal was ‘approved by affected members of the union’s voiceover performer community’, many prominent voice actors have since called out the actor’s union for not informing them at all.

Steve Blum, who has voiced characters in Mortal Kombat and God of War, wrote in response on Twitter: ‘Nobody in our community approved this that I know of. Games are the bulk of my livelihood and have been for years. Who are you referring to?’

Yong Yea, who is the new English voice actor for Kiryu Kazuma in the Like A Dragon series, wrote: ‘Every voice actor I know not only didn’t approve this, they pretty much heard about this for the first time today on Twitter.’

Excuse me? With all due respectyou state in the article Approved by affected members of the unions voiceover performer community. Nobody in our community approved this that I know of. Games are the bulk of my livelihood and have been for years. Who are you referring to?

Elias Toufexis, perhaps best known for playing Adam Jensen in Deux Ex, was similarly baffled. ‘I would humbly consider myself one of the top voice actors working in games. No one asked me about this. No one reached out for my opinion. From what I’m seeing, no one asked any of my peers either.’

The issues raised by the deal were outlined by Veronica Taylor, who voiced Ash Ketchum in the Pokémon animated series. “Why can’t the actual actor be used for the video game?! Every job brings a unique opportunity for an actor to… act. Encouraging/allowing AI replacement is a slippery slope downward.’

Although AI is a controversial topic, with most games publishers only dabbling in its use so far, there have been some titles, most notably PC shooter The Finals, that uses AI voices on their own, with no human voice actors at all.

The game has been widely criticised for doing so but the developers claim it was a cost and time saving consideration – one that, despite a minor outcry, does not seem to have affected its popularity.

Red Dead Redemption 2’s Roger Clark further elaborated on the issue, adding: “If I can pay for permission to have an AI rendering of an ‘A-list’ voice actor’s performance for a fraction of their rate I have next to no incentive to employ 90% of the lesser known ‘working’ actors that make up the majority of the industry.’

GameCentral has reached out to SAG-AFTRA for comment regarding the responses.

The post announcing the deal makes no mention of how much digital replicas could be sold for, only that the deal ‘ensures consent and fair compensation for their contributions’.

Following the Hollywood actors’ strike, which concluded in November last year, the SAG-AFTRA union said it had reached a deal with the AMPTP (who represent companies like Netflix, Warner Bros. and Disney), which included ‘unprecedented provisions for consent and compensation that will protect members from the threat of AI’.

These provisions (outlined by the LA Times) faced similar criticism from some actors, including Justine Bateman, who believed they didn’t go far enough in protecting their interests.

How has this agreement passed without notice or vote? voice to be used as a training data set? Why cant the actual actor be used for the videogame??? Every job brings a unique opportunity for an actor to act. Encouraging/allowing AI replacement is a slippery slope downward.

‘Beige mom’ Kim Kardashian thinks more about Skims sales & looking ‘perfect’ online than what her kids like, says expert | 007U12Y | 2024-01-10 18:38:26 https://ift.tt/1lGSULN

But according to one parenting expert, Kim Kardashian’s children seem to have

FOR most parents, holiday decorating includes watching the kids excitedly hang colorful ornaments, tinsel, and their favorite lights on the tree.

But according to one parenting expert, Kim Kardashian’s children seem to have been starved of any such joys this festive season — all so mom can promote her brand.

Beige mom Kim Kardashian did not think about whether her kids like her Christmas decor or not, said expert Kirsty Ketly[/caption]

Kim (seen here with Saint, Psalm, Chicago, and North West) used neutral Christmas decorations but her kids may have preferred more color in the house, said an expert[/caption]

Kim, 43, shared a video on Instagram on Christmas Eve that captured the decorations at her Calabasas mansion, where she celebrated with North, 10, Saint, 8, Chicago, 5, and Psalm, 4.

The footage showed plenty of fir trees sprayed in white and with white lights lining her hallways.

“A little bit of my holiday decor this year,” she captioned the clip.

But some fans weren’t impressed with the display, even if it cost a pretty penny.

“Does somebody live there?” demanded one commenter, while another wrote: “Very nice but I bet the kids would have liked some type of color.”

“It still looks like a hospital/mental institution though,” quipped a third.

BEIGE MOM, BEIGE CHILDREN

Parenting expert Kirsty Ketley claimed Kim’s muted Christmas decorating style could “dampen a child’s spirit.”

She suggested that the reality star is an example of a “beige mom,” intent on keeping her home in neutral hues — regardless of whether that’s a fun environment for her kids.

“This beige mom trend has become popular with celebrities, and Kim has to be on trend,” Ketley told The U.S. Sun.

“Neutral color can be calming but parents, like Kim, who live their life through social media, tend to choose it for aesthetic reasons.

“It helps products they are selling pop, and their [Instagram] grids look what they deem perfect.”

IT’S A FAMILY BUSINESS, KIDS

In this case, Kim quite literally used her Christmas decorations to help sell Skims.

On Christmas Day, she posted a photo of her gifts, each covered in white fabric tied neatly in bows.

“Wrapping gifts in our family is always such a fun family tradition to see what each family member did and their vibe for the year. Each represents us so well!” she wrote.

Kim thought about how everything was going to look on her social media this Christmas, said an expert

“I did all white SKIMS cotton jersey T-shirt fabric. I’m excited to reuse it and make other things.”

“Kim thinks more of how it is all going to look on her social media,” said Ketly.

“This is not about whether her kids like it or not.

“This is her life and so the kids are used to it so it is very much the norm for them.

“When you have kids at Christmas, this should be about them.

“This would allow them some part in what it looks like should be the priority.

“Wrapping gifts in Kim’s branded fabric is all about product placement.

“It is quite sad that the kids do not get to have just one day of the year where life is not about the Kardashian brand.

Muted Christmas decorations could dampen a child’s spirit, according to an expert

“Maybe any hidden garish Santa wrapping paper did not reach the camera.”

If it did, it certainly would have clashed with Kim’s all-white aesthetic, which appears to be the work of professional decorators.

MISSED OPPORTUNITY

Ketley suggested Kim’s celebrations did not prioritize her kids.

“Most kids love decorating the tree, as this is all part of the excitement of Christmas,” said Ketley

“It is also a great opportunity for them to show their creative side, enjoy a sense of accomplishment, and boost self-esteem.

“If parents want everything placed in a particular way, it can dampen a child’s spirit.

“Kids enjoy buying new baubles each Christmas or opening the decoration box and seeing all their previous buys.

“Each one is as precious as the other and will hold memories that they will take into adulthood.”

A parenting expert told The U.S. Sun that Kim’s muted home decor is an example of the reality star being a beige mom

While muted home decor has become popular, the beige mom all-neutral aesthetic took the internet by storm this year.

One influencer, Hayley DeRoche, calls herself That Sad Beige Lady () and amassed a following of over half a million on Instagram and TikTok.

Kim already jumped on the bandwagon opting for minimal decor and spending thousands on her home, designed by Belgian Axel Vervoordt, in 2022.

Kim and Kanye had bought the pile for a cool $20 million in 2014.

Interestingly, while their kids have been raised at the property, North is said to not be a huge fan.

In 2021 Kim told Ellen DeGeneres: “Every time I get into some kind of disagreement with my daughter North, she thinks this is a dig to me.

Kirsty Ketly said it was sad that Kims (seen here with North) kids do not get one day when life is not about the Kardashian brand[/caption]

“She’ll say, ‘Your house is so ugly. It’s all white. Who lives like this?”

Social media users have had similar takes, with one Twitter critic writing: “Kim Kardashian is the leader of the cult that is sad beige moms.”

“Kim Kardashian is the Ultimate beige mom,” wrote another.

COLOR ME MOM

According to Ketley: “Some parents like a more neutral palette in the home and to some, having kids can ruin all that.

“Some parents then opt for everything neutral for their children too so it works.

“Having color in toys and some decor is important though.

“It would be best that parents compromise and have some space for the kids and keep other spaces for the adults — if space allows it.

“Kids should be allowed to be kids, including when it comes to color and Christmas.”

Kims kids should be allowed to be kids at Christmas, said an expert[/caption]

The Kardashian kids have experienced upheaval in their home life.

Kim and Kanye’s divorce was finalized in November 2022, and they agreed to joint physical and legal custody of the four children.

Ketley highlighted how having color at home would impact a child.

“Colors are important for younger children,” she said.

“They help with brain development and often colors are a child’s first words. They might say ‘blue ball’ or ‘red cup.’

“Colors can also play a part in how children feel.

“Brighter colors may be preferable by most kids because they stand out more when children are very young.

“Color can affect a child’s mood.”

MAKE MORE MEMORIES

“Regarding color at Christmas, the magic stretches further than the decor,” said Ketley.

“So to many, just having decorations and a tree of any description will likely be enough

“I think Kim could have included the kids in the decor.

Kim (seen here with her ex-husband Kanye West in 2019) should worry less about aesthetics and making her family Christmas Instagram-worthy, said an expert[/caption]

“Even if it is allowing them one ornament to choose to hang on the trees, which does not necessarily match.

“The excitement and memories then each year of getting to hang that special piece will stay with them forever.

“This would bring back some childhood nostalgia when they are grown up, which I think is lovely for a child to have.

“My advice to parents would be to let the kids be involved.

“They should worry less about aesthetics and making Christmas Instagram-worthy.

“Kim could have concentrated more on the kids having fun.

“They are only small for a short time and then she could have Christmas her way.

“Maybe she had another tree with colorful decorations elsewhere in the house.

“Maybe Kim’s family could then have used their creativity and not interfered with her Instagram-worthy decor.”
