We’re highlighting KSU Press books that help celebrate !

📕Although she was practically unknown during her life, Emily Dickinson has become one of the most recognized poets of all time. Dickinson’s expressive and experimental writings take us on our own introspective journey, often with themes of pain and death at the forefront. Through a collection of scholarly and personal essays, “Wider than the Sky,” by Cindy MacKenzie and Barbara Dana, shares ideas and analyses focused on the power of Dickinson’s poetry to speak to suffering.

📕”Circumstances Are Destiny” delves into the life of Celestia Rice Colby, a typical 19th-century wife and mother. In her diaries and writings, we find a woman conflicted between her own personal ambitions and society’s expectations of her. Her story helps to change preconceived notions of women in history.

📕”Darling Ro and the Benét Women” follows the wives and sisters of the Benét family. Through a collection of letters and dispatches, this book explores the lives, careers, and relationships of these remarkable women, giving us a glimpse into the literary and social life of New York and Paris in the 1920s.
