MOVE over, Taylor Swift.
Taylor Dayne — the original red-lipped pop princess who rose to fame in the 80s following her big hit Tell It to My Heart — is in her best-ever era and shared her secrets to aging gracefully with The U.S. Sun.

Taylor had fans all over the world copying her crimped hair and red lip look
Thirty-five years after millions of people first copied her signature crimped hair, the 61-year-old single mom is rocking her look — and her life — like the rockstar she is.
Taylor, who is back on tour with a style that is now less red lip and more laidback, advises on how to age like a pop star — by not aging at all.
BEAUTY MUSTS
Forget telling it your heart, she wants to tell it to your skin.
“For my face, I use Vitamin C, especially during the day,” she told The U.S. Sun.
“Put that on before you put your sunblock on. I do IPL or V-beams, those are not expensive laser treatments.
“Hyaluronic acid for the face is very important. I use that at night — and stick with your retinols.”
The former Masked Singer performer is also a big Bobbi Brown fan.
“I love their tinted moisturizer and when I do my laser treatments I don’t need foundation, just a little lipgloss.
“If you get your eyebrows done, just make sure you get them really nice and feathered.”
STAYING FIT IN MIND AND BODY
Taylor also makes sure to take care of what’s on the inside as much as the outside.
“I work out, I’m very active on my diet. What that means is what I’m putting in is what I’m getting out.
“I do Pilates two to three times a week. You’ll also see me out on a hike.
“What I love about Pilates is you’re working against your own body weight. It keeps me really strong in my core.
“As we’re aging, we must stretch. I also do breathing and meditation.
“I believe now it’s the quality of my life. I’ll hike up hills, down hills.”
She also shares her biggest secret to self-love.
“It’s important you set yourself up for success. I set up little altars wherever I go, even hotel rooms,” she said.

Her home altar includes stones she picks up from hikes, as well as her favorite books.
“It’s a daily practice of loving yourself and being kind to yourself and taking care of yourself and others.”
GROWING HER FAMILY VIA SURROGACY
Long before Kim Kardashian made news for using a surrogate, Taylor welcomed twins, a boy and a girl, in 2003 after experiencing trouble conceiving.
Her biggest dream aside from music was always motherhood, but that didn’t stop the trolls from coming after her for her decision to raise her children on her own.
“It was very unusual then, and plus, as a single parent, it was kind of groundbreaking.
“I didn’t pave the way, but I became more vocal about it and said, ‘I can be a single parent, and if you don’t think so, here’s my financials and let me know if you think I can.'”
After experiencing bladder and kidney issues at a very young age, Taylor knew she had to find a way to start a family by the time she reached her 30s.

Aside from biological pressures, she realized that she wasn’t as “fulfilled” as she thought she would be.
“I probably was one of the first [to do surrogacy]. It was only legal in California and Delaware.
“I also was from one relationship into another and by 34, I was really trying to get pregnant with a boyfriend I was with.
“We were considering it and doing it and I just wasn’t. I said there has to be more to life than just myself, my career.”
She was 39 when she started the surrogacy process and 40 when her twins, who were conceived using her egg and the s***m of a close friend and former lover, were finally born.
“At the time I was encouraging LGBTQ that were struggling so hard to have families and be recognized in marriages and try to have children together like this.
“I went against what the norm is, not on purpose, but because I wanted it. No is not on my radar and if it is I have to figure it out.”
MUSIC RENAISSANCE
It’s been over three decades since she first broke onto the scene, but Taylor, who won an Emmy just last year, is living her dream all over again.
She recently re-released Tell It to My Heart as a Cash Cash remix and is taking her show back on the road with tour dates scheduled for both the U.S. and Europe, where her journey all began.
The original version has over 119 million views on YouTube.
“I feel like I’m on my third cycle of really incredible choices to be here and desiring to be here, as well as ever grateful for the fanbase that continues to grow and knows my music.

“It’s been a 35-year journey so far, it’s been incredible.
“I’m back to music, my renaissance is now. My resurgence and the new music is out.”
She was also seen performing on an episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills to raise money for Dorit and PK’s Homeless not Toothless event.
SHOOTING TO FAME
After releasing Tell It to My Heart in 1988 at the age of 22 and immediately being whisked off to tour in Europe, she learned firsthand — and fast — what it meant to be famous.
“I showed up in Germany to do an in-store signing after we shot the video and there were about 8,000 people in line. I said, ‘Woah, something has really changed’.
“They all had crimped hair and red lips and were freaking out. It was a storm. It was overnight.

The Tell It to My Heart singer shared her struggles with infertility and welcoming her children via surrogate long before Kim Kardashian
“It’s a whole other thing when your fans are starting to dress like you.
“It was crazy over there. We didn’t even have paparazzi in the U.S. until later in the 90s and into the early 2000s.
“People there were fans of Tina Turner and Madonna — they were just loving a woman that was fierce, raw, real.”
At the time that she had found success, there was no “yellow brick road.”
Taylor and her creative collaborator, Rick Wake, cut the now world-famous single themselves, with her dad funding the project.
She also recalled how it took three days just to get the drum sound and baseline for the hit song in those pre-cellphone and computer days.
Growing up in New York and the surrounding suburbs, Taylor thoroughly understood the club scene where she worked at night but had no idea how her life would change.
“I could never image what being a pop star is like on the other side.”
Her fans will most likely also think of Taylor not just for her sound, but for her style in her videos and album cover.
“I was coming from a very high fashion standard. That iconic black dress is from Nasty Habits.

Taylor is bringing her show back on the road with a remix of her chart-topping single
“That black pleather skirt is not quite do******ix but it did really apply to what was happening on 2nd Avenue and 8th Street back then.
“You had the Pyramid Club, you had the Cat Club. My brothers were working at Private Eyes which was the first time they were using DJ’s as VJs.
“The hair I have to owe to my first makeup team. It really showcased the playfulness in the 80s.
“I never thought about using a crimping iron but I owned it.”
FOCUS ON HEALTH
Today, Taylor believes that less is more — and has even more to be grateful for.
After being diagnosed with colon cancer a year and a half ago, Taylor has found herself singing a different — or at least more transparent — tune.
“When you start talking about your vulnerabilities and sharing them more, it brings you closer to people.
“I was open about discussing my health scare and how I challenged it and overcame it.”
Having gone through menopause at 49, she also encourages women to see an endocrinologist.
“Sometimes your OB/GYN is not enough,” she said.
Taylor, who penned an autobiography, is now a spokesperson for Wacoal’s Fit for the Cure campaign and continues to be vocal about early screening detection for both men and women.
