First of three bars we just put in for hanging lights on.... And 3 of my POV cameras are now here... And the green screen. Just waiting on the other three cameras... With luck will be ready to start dialing in the live streaming this weekend.

Great photos from Grays Harbor. Thanks to Hysteria for the shout out... Glad you liked what we did :)

What a great time rocking the annual Gray’s Harbor Rock & Brews event, complete with camping, moto-cross, several bands, killer sound and one of the best damn food trucks in the state! Few things match playing to a brand new crowd and winning ‘em all over. Love that!

Thanks to Joe Gingerella for having us out, to the cool guys in all the other bands, to the incredible sound provided by M&D Sound (Dana & Michelle, you were awesome to work with, thank you!!), to Jud stage manager of the killer Sin Circus, for keeping a late day on track…and last but not least, did we say food truck? Radio Fryer Foods LLC has some of the tastiest food around, and the husband wife team that run it are as cool a folks as you’ll come across. A big heartfelt thank you for staying open late so we could eat, and comping food to the band on top of that!

And of course, muchas gracias to our in-house “photojournalists” the lovely Traci Ellersick, and Karen Chalmers. Thank you, ladies!! Photo credit listed for all other fan and professional photos. Thank you too!

Making your sound um.... sound more mastered and radio like.

One of my favorite tricks for evening things up, whether its live or recorded, is to throw a compressor across the entire mix, and then tune it to automatically kick just a bit when the band is going full out. This helps to level the sound volumes out and can keep your powerful vocals from completely mudding up the mix when they get to belting.

Most digital boards and DAWS nowadays have good built in compressors. They are usually very transparent so you will hardly notice them at all. I like these but what I really prefer is a colorful vintage tube compressor for the whole mix, like the Fairchild. Using one of your plugin slots to insert this compressor across the main mix can work wonders, especially for live sound. Be sure to understand how to use the bias control before rolling.

The built in presets for X32 are great. I use the
Whisky A Go Go settings a lot, esp for drums. What you may not know is you can write down the settings and copy them over to your XAIR and save them as new quick settings for channels. Best of both on both worlds.
