IMPORTANT UPDATE
The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has recently come up in some of the other time-based filmmaking competitions. Because of this, Film Racing has determined the need to modify the rules for all future Film Racing competitions to address this issue.
We believe that the use of Artificial Intelligence in any aspect of filmmaking falls contrary to the purpose and vision of what Film Racing is. As such, the use of AI in any aspect of film creation for all Film Racing competitions is strictly forbidden.
The following verbiage has been added to the rules for all future Film Racing competitions:
5.1 The Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI). To ensure fairness, creativity, and authenticity in Film Racing competitions, the use of any generative AI that creates content for or within your film is strictly prohibited in all aspects of the competition. The purpose of this rule is to uphold the artistic vision of all participants and maintain a level playing field. Under these rules, use of AI includes (but is not limited to) the following examples.
• The use of AI to generate a script for your film.
• The use of AI to generate any visual or auditory content for your film.
• The use of AI within the editing process of your film.
a. Under these rules, the use of special effects programs such as “After Effects” is not considered “use of AI”, since there is a human participant manipulating the program to create the special effects.
b. The LLC reserves the right to verify the compliance of participants with this rule. In case of suspicion or evidence of use of AI, the LLC may request proof that the film was created in its entirety by human participants. Failure to provide evidence to the satisfaction of the LLC will in disqualification of the film.
c. Any violation of this rule will result in disqualification from the competition. Disqualified participants will forfeit any trophies, or recognition they might have been eligible for and may be banned from future competition entry.
d. The LLC retains the right to interpret and enforce this rule. They may take additional actions, beyond disqualification, if necessary, to ensure the integrity and fairness of competitions.
