**WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT SUNDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH MONDAY MORNING**

Timing:
Starts: 1-3PM Sunday
Ends: 1-3AM Monday

Forecast:
Widespread plowable snowfall for the region between 3-7” with locally higher amounts possible in the noted region where heavier bands are most likely to set up. Monday morning commute may be slippery, but snow will have wrapped up by then.

After a winter of near misses, it’s looking like we potentially will see a good storm for once! Even though it’s only a day away, there are still a few question marks with this storm. Some models have the strong low further inland while others have the energy transfer east and have the low pass by Cape Cod. This not only determines where the rain/snow line sets up, but also where the heaviest bands of snow set up as well as if the storm will even hold itself together. Right now, there are very few models that suggest a weak storm, so a low probability, but something we do have to keep in mind when making a forecast.

Based on that, we can expect a plowable snow for most of the region from this storm, with a widespread 3-7” of snow. The area circled in red with the 4-8”+ totals is currently the area with the highest probability for heavier snow bands to set up. Wherever the heaviest bands set up, the storm will overperform and some towns could see close to 10” of snow if everything plays out right. Towns could also be on the lower end of the range if the heavy bands stay away from them, hence why we are denoting the area as having the potential to overperform.

We do need to keep in mind that there is the potential, maybe 10-15% chance, that we end up on the lowest end of the totals in each range as the storm ends up being further south than the models suggest. This is unlikely to happen, but it’s a possibility we have to note as the model spread with this storm is still quite large.
