Antennas Deployed
L3Harris announced the successfully deployment Nov. 20 of Jupiter-3’s four large reflector antennas.

“The L3Harris-built reflectors onboard the Jupiter-3 communications satellite are based on materials and configurations deployed on similar communication satellites — utilizing flight proven materials and subassemblies,” Colin Mitchell, L3Harris RF Systems vice president and general manager, told SpaceNews by email. “The reflectors onboard Jupiter-3 offer proven design and assembly processes as other large reflectors that have been manufactured in our Florida facility.”

Still, it remains challenging to design and configure antennas for ultra-high-capacity communications satellites that fit inside standard launch fairings. To accomplish the objective, L3Harris relies on advanced technology and sophisticated packaging techniques, Mitchell said.

Ground System Testing
With the antennas deployed, Echostar’s Hughes Network Systems is testing Jupiter-3’s ability to communicate with ground systems. Once testing is completed, Jupiter-3 is expected to provide more than 500 gigabits per second of broadband capacity for Hughesnet customers including airlines, corporations, governments and consumers in North and South America.

Hughes expects Jupiter-3 to enter service by the end of the year.

“As the largest commercial satellite ever built, Jupiter-3 will double the capacity of our fleet, serving more customers who live beyond the reach of cable and fiber internet by providing ubiquitous connectivity throughout the Americas,” Echostar CEO Hamid Akhavan said in a statement.

Introducing JUPITER 3, the Next Generation Ultra High-density Satellite from Hughes
An engineering powerhouse, JUPITER 3 marks a new era of rural connectivity with faster speeds and more than 500 Gbps of capacity. Doubling the size of the entire Hughes JUPITER High Throughput Satellite fleet, JUPITER 3 enables us to serve even more customers across the Americas.
Even bigger than a blue whale, the largest animal on the planet, the 9 metric ton Hughes JUPITER 3 spacecraft is on track to be the largest commercial satellite launched – but does bigger mean better? In this case, YES! Purpose-built to meet our customers’ needs and engineered like no satellite before, JUPITER 3 will bring 500 Gbps of capacity, doubling the size of the Hughes JUPITER satellite fleet and enabling us to serve even more customers across the Americas.
More capacity, more spot beams, more speed
Engineering innovation is one of our core values at Hughes, and nowhere is this reflected more than in the evolution of the JUPITER satellite fleet. With each satellite launched, we’ve continually increased capacity, enhanced our services and improved speeds. JUPITER 3 will bring the most capacity and highest speeds we ever been able to offer.
The 300 spot beams aboard JUPITER 3 will help alleviate network congestion while enabling a faster user experience. Deploying these very small, densely concentrated spot beams allows us to target capacity in the specific areas where our customers need it most. With coverage from Canada, across the U.S., Brazil and throughout South America, JUPITER 3 will expand the reach of our HughesNet satellite internet service to nearly 80% of the population across the Americas.

TXDISH.COM UPDATE
In a groundbreaking development, Hughes Network Systems, a subsidiary of EchoStar, has successfully launched its JUPITER3 ultra high-density satellite into space and is designed to provide gigabytes of connectivity to customers in North and South America.
After three hours and twenty-eight minutes, the satellite began sending and receiving signals, and its solar arrays unfolded to their full size.
Over the next few weeks, JUPITER 3 will travel to its destination at the 95 degrees west orbital slot, where it will undergo extensive testing before entering service. Once operational, it will provide over 500 Gbps of additional capacity to augment the Hughes JUPITER fleet.
The satellite will also enhance HughesNet offerings in the U.S. and Latin America, providing higher broadband capacity and faster speed plans.

I’m excited to announce the launch of the Hughes JUPITER 3. This satellite is targeted for launch on July 28 at 11:04 p.m.ET from Cape Canaveral, Florida, when a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket will carry our next generation Satellite into space. The rocket will place JUPITER 3 at a geostationary orbit at 95-degrees West (22,300 miles above Earth’s equator).

We encourage you to follow along on our Journey to JUPITER 3
· Visit our dedicated websites in English and Spanish once published
· Plan to watch the live broadcast of the launch the night of July 28; the link to the webcast will be available at Hughes.com/JUPITER3.

After launch, it will take time for orbit raising and in-orbit testing, and we expect to begin our Gen6 service in Q4 2023. This launch will allow us to provide service to all of North America later this year along with LEO OneWEB. Services.
