OneWeb Technologies, Hughes Awarded US Space Force Contract for LEO Services,
OneWeb Technologies and Hughes Network Systems secure significant contracts from the US Space Force, reinforcing their positions in the satellite technology sector.
Hughes Network Systems' Contract
In a separate announcement, Hughes Network Systems, a subsidiary of EchoStar and a satellite technology company, stated that it has secured a five-year IDIQ contract with a potential value of up to USD 900 million. According to Hughes, this contract facilitates the US Department of Defense, federal agencies, and international coalition partners to procure fully managed, low-latency LEO services from Hughes. Hughes stated that these services leverage capacity on two constellations: OneWeb and EchoStar Lyra.
OneWeb Technologies, a wholly owned subsidiary of OneWeb, and Hughes Network Systems, have each been awarded significant contracts by the US Space Force. OneWeb Technologies has secured a 10-year Commercial Satellite Communications Proliferated Low Earth Orbit (p-LEO) contract, while Hughes Network Systems has been granted a five-year Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract for low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite-based services.
