After a campaign marked by vitriol, personal attacks and multiple allegations of impropriety by all parties, Pound Ridge’s Democrats emerged victorious this week, maintaining their hold on the town board.

11/08/2023

As preliminary election results came in Tuesday night, it appeared that incumbent Democrats in Bedford, Lewisboro and Pound Ridge were going to hold on to their positions.

In Bedford, where Supervisor Ellen Calves ran unopposed, the two incumbent Democratic council members, Bobbi Bittker and Thomas Catoliato, were outpolling their two Republican opponents, Mike Palladino and Don Scott.

In Lewisboro, incumbent Supervisor Tony Gonçalves, running on the Democratic and Working Families lines, was considerably ahead of his Republican and Conservative challenger, Mary Ann Loustaunau, while incumbent Democrats Richard Sklarin and Dan Welsh were similarly ahead of their Republican opponents, Stephen Lennox and Alison Biddle. Mr. Welsh also ran on the Working Families line; Mr. Lennox and Ms. Biddle were also on the Conservative line.

In Pound Ridge, with 100% of districts reporting, incumbent Democratic Supervisor Kevin Hansan had 518 votes to 339 for Pound Ridge Party candidate John McCown. In the contest for two seats on the town council, incumbent Democrat Alison Boak had 446 votes, while Democratic candidate Namasha Schelling had 390, seemingly behind Pound Ridge First candidate Christopher Boey’s 404. However, preliminary results did not include early voting totals. In early voting, Ms. Schelling had 459 votes to Mr. Boey’s 263, indicating she would have a total of 849 votes to 667 for Mr. Boey.

Mr. Hansan similarly had a large lead over Mr. McCown in early voting totals, 522 to 333.

Pound Ridge Party candidates Cynthia Shereda and Susan Lee trailed the others by a considerable margin.
