💓 you might not ever “arrive” at an ideal version of yourself so take time to love yourself along the way.
🥰 studies show that mindfulness (paying attention on purpose *without judgment*) aka - stop beating yourself up mentally pls - improve self compassion 💓
🤩 those who engage in self compassion may notice decreased anxiety, depression, and subjective levels of stress. the world presents us with several barriers to self compassion - so it’s important to make it a regular habit
🌱 there’s always going to be ups and downs and different phases of life present you with new and unique challenges, so you’ll be growing for a bit

haven’t picked up a paintbrush in a minute and actively avoided it because it’s v connected to my grief. but i love art. fun fact: if i wasnt a psychologist, i may have tried to be an artist 🎨
my family loved my art and it has been too painful to reconnect but now i think im ready 🥹
where there is love, there is grief ❤️

😅
let’s be real - therapy isn’t for everyone and not everyone has access to it. in an alternative universe, we can dream ❤️
one possible underlying reason for this, in my opinion, is because maybe we want the best for our family. there might be a deep sense of love despite the conflict. maybe a yearning for closeness despite the distance. we want them to feel the healing and peace that we feel, not only for the relationship itself, but so they, as an individual, can experience a sense of peace or contentment ❤️
the holidays bring up feelings for people - happiness sadness grief joy, the whole spectrum. be kind, you never really know what people are feeling around this time of year and what the holidays may spark for them 🥰

over a year of doing the podcast online and we were finally able to record irl 🥹
sometimes in your lifetime you meet your people. in light of recording our gratitude ep soon:
- you have the ability to make anyone feel seen, heard, and valued
no matter what anyone says, you approach from a place of non judgment
you can change anyone’s mood especially if they’re feeling down
tag someone in your life that you appreciate and what you appreciate about them ❤️

digital detox has been helpful so far 🫶 🩵 unplugging from your devices isn’t just about taking a break from screens; it’s about giving your brain and body a well-deserved rest 🩵 recent research shows that ditching the digital world can seriously cut down on stress and anxiety, boost your sleep, and make you feel all-around better 😴one study found that cutting screen time before bed improved sleep quality by 30% (smith et al., 2021) 🤩another discovered that a week-long digital detox can drop stress hormone levels by 25% (brown & williams, 2022) 🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵 if you or someone you know is struggling or in crisis - call or text 988 or visit 988lifeline.org. you can also reach the crisis text line by texting ‘home’ to 741741 ❤️ ✨ for veterans, press 1 after calling ✨ for spanish speakers, press 2 ✨ for lgbtqia+ support: text the word ‘pride’ to 988 social media is not a substitute for therapy or psychological help. for personalized support, please consult your healthcare provider 🩵. — - smith, j., et al. is there really any other way 🫡🤪 🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵 ✨ persistent stressors, including the ongoing impact of COVID-19, economic challenges, and geopolitical conflicts, continue to fuel the rise in mental health issues globally ✨ despite increased awareness, there remain significant gaps in mental health care provision, with many regions lacking adequate resources to address the growing demand ✨ the proportion of adults experiencing moderate to severe depressive symptoms nearly doubled from 10% in 2019 to 19% in june 2020 🍉 displaced individuals and refugees, both within Palestine and in neighboring countries, face unique mental health challenges. the loss of homes, livelihoods, and the constant uncertainty of their future contribute to high levels of psychological distress ✨ in the united states, the CDC reported that the percentage of adults with recent symptoms of an anxiety or depressive disorder increased from 36.4% in august 2020 to 41.5% in February 2021. the CDC also noted increased substance use and suicidal ideation during this period https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/healthandsocialcare/mentalhealth https://www.who.int/news/item/02-03-2022-covid-19-pandemic-triggers-25-increase-in-prevalence-of-anxiety-and-depression-worldwide 🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵 If you or someone you know is struggling or in crisis, call or text 988 or visit 988lifeline.org. LETS F**KIN GOOOO!!!!!! 🙌🏼🥳 sometimes it takes weeks anddd sometimes it takes longer than you think and you’ll get there ❤️ #mentalhealth #therapy #therapyhumor #mentalhealthhumor
it’s a journey to say the least #mentalhealth #therapy #mentalhealthhumor #therapyhumor #therapymemes
did i need space or was it a major depressive episode 🤪 our space sometimes gets cluttered when we feel low. on the other hand, there are people who like to clean when they’re feeling off ❤️ #therapyhumor #therapy #mentalhealthhumor #therapymemes #mentalhealthmemes
Organized spontaneity, say lessss! (and I get to be surprised too!) Can’t wait to make some amazing memories 🥹🥰 Although it feels spontaneous for us, it certainly isn’t for @packupandgo. In all of my past trips, they’ve taken the time to create experiences and book accommodations that are well within our interests and desires. It’s just such a fun experience! #surprisetrip #packupandgoambassador
new small habits ✨ this one isnt meant for those huge life decisions the goal isnt to minimize your feelings about how important this is to you. bc it is! we can hold space for both: this is v meaningful for me and im gonna just show up without expectations and see how it goes ❤️ sometimes when we categorize it as a ~silly lil experiment~ instead of a monumental life change we put less pressure on ourselves to “do it right” and we feel more confident to try something new #psychologist #newhabits
is my brain even on my side? 🫠😂 our brain is designed to keep us safe (not necessarily happy all the time)- sometimes this comes out in our self talk. if we focus on the negative, we’ll know what to expect, right? 😅 well, not always. acknowledging ~certain~ thoughts can be helpful, but staying with these thoughts might not be useful all of the time 💭 our internal dialogue can be influenced by our emotions, past experiences, beliefs, the perceptions of others, cultural and spiritual experiences, and more ❤️ you might really like yourself and still have random thoughts like “you aren’t good enough!” 😒 and sometimes, thoughts are simply thoughts. we can’t really explain them, they might not have a “purpose” or they may be intrusive thoughts (ie disturbing / unwanted thoughts that aren’t aligned with your values, that make you feel uncomfortable). with intrusive thoughts, we usually label them as such and try to keep it moving. because it’s ~usually~ not helpful to focus on those type of thoughts ✨ ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ #psychologist #mentalhealth #therapy #therapythoughts #mentalhealthhumor #therapyhumor
tell me what helps for your rumination in the comments 👇🏼 scheduled worry time 🕧 very brief overview here - and it’s not the only tactic that can be helpful - there are plenty more! #mentalhealth #therapy #anxiety #rumination
should i cancel my next therapy session 🤪 🌱🪻🌲🌴🌳🏝️🏕️☀️🌦️🌻 oh the great outdoors ☀️ can be so helpful for mental health and wellbeing. i try to get outside even for an intentional five minutes a day if i can 😍 #therapymemes #therapy #mentalhealthhumor #mentalhealthmemes
the power of taking inventory 💅🏼 what small things (that you have control over 😇) are you doing everyday, that aren’t serving you? 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
we know how this ends 😒 💓💓💓💓💓💓💓 focusing on your health can be helpful … and sometimes it can cause rumination ❤️ if you’re concerned and have access to healthcare, it’s not a bad idea to get a check up a doc with your bloodwork, history, and a relationship with you specifically, most likely knows you better than web md does ❤️ and we do need better access to affordable healthcare so can someone make web md premium or something 😂 #memes #mentalhealthmemes
