Our Story

In 1986 the founders of Save-A-Connie found the bird who would eventually become the Star of America. N6937C, a Lockheed Constellation L-1049H was sitting in the boneyard in Mesa, AZ and needed to be moved to her new home in Kansas City. A group of volunteers spent 9 weeks in the hot Arizona sun getting her ready for that ferry flight. When she got to KC these same volunteers and many more worked for 2 years to put her back to her former glory. In 1988 she would be dedicated as Princess Connie and begin to fly all over the US to airshows in an effort to preserve history and inspire the next generation. As these efforts gained momentum a Martin 404 would be added to the fleet and the organization would be come to known as the Airline History Museum. Our fleet has continued to grow and we are all still committed to sharing the history we work to preserve with the next generation.
