.... and we're off! This morning kicked off the running at the 126th National Championship at the Ames Plantation in Grand Junction, TN.

We had a great start to the 2025 National Championship this morning. Here are the results of Brace 1 (2/10/25 AM):

Erin's Perfect Storm had a find at :11 on the hill before the first crossing of Buford Ellington Road, a divided find at :46 at Turner Pond, a find at Will Dunn at 1:06 and a find at 1:57 at the field beyond Kyle's Barn and at 2:00 he had a find at Edward Clark South. At 2:07, Eisenhart called point for his dog and pointed out a rabbit, but the judges did not see it. Perfect Storm's next find was at 2:19 behind Ryan's House on the right, and his final find came at 2:37 at Edward Clark North. He finished the three hours.

Rebel Cause had a find at :35 in the Turner Field, and a divided find at Turner Pond at :46. His third find came at 1:14 in Mary Scott Basin on the left and his next came at 1:41 on the far edge of the Tennessee Field. Rebel had a back at 2:07 and a final find at 2:19 on the left behind Ryan's House. He finished the three hours.

Our staff is busy this weekend at multiple events, including attending the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony at the National Bird Dog Museum in Grand Junction, TN. We’ll be around all weekend as we prepare for the 2025 National Championship Field Trial running on Monday at the Ames Plantation.

In this week’s episode, Trevor and Allen are back in the studio to chat about the upcoming 2025 Winter Classic, occurring on Friday, February 7 and Saturday, February 8. Find out what makes this show so special, now in its 38th year and its 13th year in Batesville. We kick off the episode by reflecting on last year’s event then discuss the distribution of the coonhound breeds and ponder which breeds will do well this year. Interested in the back story behind the Winter Classic, head back to Episode 34 where we go deep into the history books for the entire event.

The 2025 Winter Classic will feature two separate two-hour Nite Hunts for both registered and grand divisions and one bench show over the two days. They guys also talk through how we get to overall winner and reserves and outline the awards portion across the divisions. We also mention details on how to complete your entry and confirmation and how to get in with your walk-up registrations. There’s a Pro Slam as well as two Warm Up Slams on Wednesday and Thursday nights with added purses each night provided by Coondog Wear

We start by talking about “The Big 5 Events” of the beagle world and how UKC and NHBA work together. Allen mentions one of the main events where he competes!
