April Week 2 Alaska Legislative Highlights
🛑 Important budget developments from this week in the Alaska State Legislature! 🛑
On Thursday, the House approved a $12.3 billion draft of the state budget, sending it to the Senate. This puts the 2024 Permanent Fund dividend at approximately $2,270 per recipient, though the Senate is expected to make substantial changes.
On the same day, the House did not pass a constitutional amendment that would have guaranteed payment of the annual Permanent Fund dividend. The proposed amendment came five votes short of the supermajority needed to send it to the Senate.
