With the popularity and availability of anything on just about everything with computers and hand held devices comes the question, “where should I spend my time wisely?”
There is so much out there and a lot of it is great, useful, and encouraging information for everyone and especially for actors.
It’s like the veil has been lifted into the lives of casting directors, producers, agents, managers, acting coaches and actors themselves alike but how much of that is helping YOU as an actor?
You can spend literally ALL DAY on social media following and liking, posting and tagging and putting in time like it’s your job and it is an can be to a certain extent BUT if you are not putting your time in reading, taking classes, following the trades and educating yourself in the things that matter to an actor then you are missing the boat.
Actors do get better informed by listening to someone talk about acting, but it doesn’t necessarily make them a better actor.
What does make them a better actor and what goes hand in hand with success all the BTS work that an actor has to do to be successful!
Talk is cheap and everyone has an opinion but learning how to make a role real and bring it for casting is what really what makes an actor successful!
Be the informed actor for sure, but also be the working BTS in your craft because that is where the magic begins! ~nb. -and remember that social media is not the real and true answer!
