Essential oil blend for a soap order. In this are, the client has migraines and multiple chemical sensitivities and had requested a Eucalyptus/mint blend. I'm hot processing the soap so that I can use less essential oils and lessen the chances of her reacting to it.

Well, apparently, my article about lessons learned during 20 years in the soap business has published in Mother Earth News. I know because they paid me for it. However, usually they send me 2 copies of the issue in the mail, and that didn't happen this time. I have no idea which issue it's in. Anybody notice it?

Using Natural Soaps 101 -

"Why is my soap dissolving so fast?"

Here are things to consider:

1. Has the soap been cured properly? More water in the soap means dissolving faster.
2. Does the soap have a high superfat rate? Extra-moisturizing soaps are a little extra soft. It's not a flaw, it's just a fact.
3. Is your soap sitting in a wet dish? Is the faucet dripping on it? Do you let it dry thoroughly between uses?
4. How are you using it - wash cloth, pouf, or directly onto the body? Pouf or washcloth is the best for saving soap, especially if you are a hairy person. Hair definitely uses up soap faster.
5. Don't use one of those "soapsaver" sleeves. They stay wet forever and cause bacterial growth in addition toturning your whole bar of soap into mush.
