A double calf hair-on pouch based on plate 31 in Grant’s book. It measures 7”x 7.5” #black powder #flintlock
Perfect shift for special occasions like retirement, wedding, graduation, or anniversary. Heck, who needs a reason. We have 4 more covered document boxes. Jeff Gier constructed the boxes, hasps, and escutcheon plates. Shelly Gier lined, covered and detailed them, and Jamie Gier forged the handles. All have unique features and will be debut at the CLA show this weekend
Jeff entered two powder horns he recently completed in the competitions at the 2024 Annual Honorable Company of Horners meeting this past weekend. He came away with two blue ribbons! Please excuse the photography. The lighting in our room wasn’t the best for showing details.
If you have an interest in black powder or horn work, you need to consider joining the Horn Guild ( https://www.hornguild.org/ ) and attending the annual meeting. So much information and artistry.
This year, among other things, 35 original Tansel powder horns were on display for all to admire and study.
A special thanks to all who worked so hard to bring the Horn Fair together and to those generous collectors who so unselfishly shared their priceless collections with all of us!
Both of us are working in our shops getting orders completed. Jeff’s projects are Christmas presents from a grandfather to 3 lucky young shooters. There are a lot of “behind the scenes” steps involved. Here is one small one step and a comparison of them in the process. Looking forward to being able to get these out soon.
My projects are in the boring “make an idea into a pattern” stage, so it isn’t much yet, but will share soon. These first steps for me are tedious and have a lot of trial and error parts.
Leather project that requires butt stitching. Edges and seams will be better “polished” later in the process
We are set up and ready serve your needs at the Fair at New Boston.
One of our favorite items is a grog jug made by Phil Gilson, an accomplished glass blower. He uses recycled glass and blows into original molds to create these beauties.
Camphor oil bottles were repurposed as drinking vessels in ships since they didn’t spill as easily with the smaller opening .
With 3 taverns at the Fair at New Boston, these will come in handy
