Tyler Gathercoal - The creator of Art of Aries Studios. Tyler has been drumming for 27 years and playing piano for 16. He started managing rock band, Through the Darkness after he graduated in 2010 and has managed the global releases of 14 music videos and 25+ songs which resulted in 1.8 million views and streams combined. Brett Bojack - Brett graduated from Full Sail University in Florida with a Bachelor of Sciences in the Recording Arts. He is certified in Pro Tools. His roster of clients ranges from local musicians to singers that appeared on The Voice! Tollef Sorenson - Tollef is the man behind the camera that captures award winning shots. He has been the primary cinematographer for Through the Darkness. He films and photographs weddings, live events, music videos and directs his own shorts films. Derek Taylor - Derek is an in-studio musician sponsored by Anthology Gear. His YouTube channel (MudSmackD) is full of covers with various musicians from the Midwest. Having over 100 shows under his belt, he is live-tech savvy and very experienced. He's played in many notable acts in the Des Moines scene too, most recently, All Things Lost, Modern Tiger, Switchboard Marion and The Righteous Wicked. Chaz Wessels - Chaz is an in-studio musician that plays almost every instrument you'd need and a lot that you probably would never. He is Through the Darkness' primary song writer and is ear-trained much like Derek. If something is missing in your song, ask Chazzle to add his Dazzle to it. Kristopher Gathercoal - Director of four Nominated and Award Winning Music Videos, Creative Director and Primary Lyricist in Through the Darkness, Artist Development Specialist, Lyric Analyst, Story-Teller, Author

Block 5- 7:30-8; features a performance from singer/songwriter and recording artist, Tresina. A performance on drums from Asher, and a performance from Through the Darkness.

Local Artist Spotlight
Joe Gittins is a local singer-songwriter from Perry, Iowa. His musical journey began at age 13 with an acoustic guitar, but it wasn’t until 2011, when his first child was born, that he found his voice as a songwriter. Writing a song for her sparked a lifelong commitment to expressing thoughts and emotions through music.

Joe’s inspiration is wide-ranging, from renowned musicians and local artists to authors and other creatives. For him, songwriting is both an emotional outlet and a way to process his thoughts. Picking up his guitar brings him peace, and his lyrics often distill reflections on life’s challenges and beauty.

Joe’s creative process varies; sometimes, a song emerges in minutes, and other times it takes months, capturing ideas on anything from napkins to phone memos. Often, for Joe, melodies and lyrics intertwine spontaneously while on the road.

Joe writes music as a way to self-express, and for anyone willing to lend an ear. He also writes songs for his daughters, hoping to inspire them to follow their passions. He believes progress, no matter how slow, is always worth pursuing.

His music reflects values of resilience, curiosity, and inspiration—core qualities he hopes listeners feel in every note. Those who enjoy lyrics that invite reflection and spark new ideas, alongside music that’s both enjoyable and meaningful. Through his craft, Joe aims to create songs that connect, leaving a lasting impact on all who listen.

A student of mine came in yesterday and helped me put on new drum heads! He has an electric kit at home and has never went through the process of taking off, putting on, and tuning new drum heads, so I invited him to come in and see how it's done.
