A man is in jail after police said he broke in and burglarized eight Jacksonville churches, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post Wednesday.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said 35-year-old Jose Ortiz broke into the churches, and they're still working to return stolen items.

REST IN PEACE 🙏: Retired Lt. Col. Harry Stewart Jr, a decorated World War II pilot who broke racial barriers as a Tuskegee Airmen and earned honors for his combat heroism, has died. He was 100.

BREAKING: A judge has thrown out the felony indictment against former Georgia prosecutor Jackie Johnson, ending her trial on charges that she abused her power by trying to protect the men who chased and killed Ahmaud Arbery in 2020.

Senior Judge John R. Turner on Wednesday dismissed the 2021 indictment charging Johnson with violating her oath of office, citing technical errors with its wording.
