Today we remember illustrator, Floyd Cooper. Floyd Cooper was born January 8, 1956 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Mr. Cooper died on July 16, 2021. He was educated at the University of Oklahoma. Best known as an illustrator of picture books, Cooper received the Notable Children's Trade Book in the Field of Social Studies Award. "Meet Danitra Brown" was a 1995 Coretta Scott King Illustrator Honor Book. Cooper received the 2009 Coretta Scott King Illustrator Award for "Blacker The Berry."
