Hello listeners,

In this week's podcast, Jae and I delved into the complex topic of trauma. We briefly explored some of the science behind trauma and looked at how deeply distressing or disturbing experience can have long-lasting effects on a person's mental, physical, and emotional health. I explained how traumatic experiences can range from single incidents like car accidents, to ongoing issues such as abuse or neglect. I shared some personal experiences that I hope will be helpful for others who may be struggling with similar situations. *Podcast will post within the next 24 hours*

We plan to continue to discuss trauma in our next few episodes including the journey to healing. YOU will have an opportunity to call in and ask questions! I am also working on a line-up of guest speakers who can share both knowledge and personal experiences.

Below you will find the books I mentioned in the podcast. These are excellent resources to help improve your understanding of trauma and the mind body connection (I highly recommend)
• The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma by Sean Pratt, Bessel A. van der Kolk, et al.
• What Happened to You?: Conversations on Trauma, Resilience, and Healing Hardcover – April 27, 2021 by Oprah Winfrey (Author), Bruce D. Perry (Author)

We are recording my first podcast episode for Mind Matters: Conversations with Anna-Psych NP tomorrow! I am very excited to have this platform to reach so many people and share my knowledge, experience and personal journey with my mental health. As someone who struggles immensely with imposture syndrome doing a podcast makes me feel very vunerable. And if I am being totally transparent I am quite insecure about my "southern accent" to the point that I have rarely watched or listned to my previous public speaking recordings. But I have had so much positive feedback from the introductory podcast we did a couple of weeks ago. Thank you Niccole Green for naming me an "informative Reba McEntire" and your encouragment for me to embrace my "southern." I KNOW that is exactly the advice I would give a family, friend or patient! I am way too self critical like some many of us. I really hope that my very real approach of "me being me" will help others feel not so alone in their struggles. STAY TUNED!!!!

The podcast will host guest speakers to add diversity and a higher level of specilazed knowledge to certain topcis.
