My wife pushes me out of my comfort areas and Napoleon Dynamite Live was no exception last night.

The cast surprised me with their small stage show after the movie played as well as; how great their Q&A was with the crowd!

Year ten's photoshoot at Spa Vita. Its wild to realize how many lives it affects and how serious my wife takes that responsibility.

Seeing this image just adds to the realization that these people and those they know are directly affected by the choices made at the spa.

I've watched her constantly work to make sure those at the spa are set to be successful and I know when they do succeed how proud she is.

Another thing I never thought I'd ever build: small barrier for a dog

Our nearly 16 year old chihuahua can barely hear or see and has issues with his mobility.

So he's begun to wander around the house unattended during the day which means he has a chance to get into trouble in certain rooms.

Instead of buying and permanently installing a fixed gate (that's also ugly) I just made a few of these barriers that freestand.

Theyre lightweight, breakdown as needed, are cheap (scrap lumber), and don't look too out of place. They'll be even better painted to match the other door trim.

My theory: every ten years, as an adult, is a new lifetime.

You start being an adult between 18 and 20 years old-ish.

Then every decade you'll find yourself with new....
- relationships
- employment
- children/pets
- health struggles or victories
- interests/hobbies

These changes weren't something I personally planned but they still happen and looking back it's awesome.

I've now crossed into the next decade that is already lending me new opportunities to be better by trying new things.

I learned a ton on this project too which will only help me with anything in the future....and especially about how to deal with lumber not fully dried.

Preparation is HARD but makes a difference with my anxiety.

I learned as a high schooler that much of my personal anxiety was simply from feeling unprepared.

Even today the same thing happens, often, but I try to be aware that it's only because I didn't physically or mentally get ready first.

This picture is me getting ready to install my current wood working project. By testing and walking through what's needed I'll have less concern but I know I'll have issued along the way too.

I'm feeling thankful for how the last month's worth of events has melded itself together.

The timing of me going to massage school and my wife moving her spa simultaneously gave me an added level of initial stress due to the huge time investment needed from both.

But it seems that stress was only self induced...as stress normally is.

With time I guess all difficult things seem less ominous or impossible and as I'm getting distance from the start of this new career path that's what I'm feeling.

Onto the next phase, part, lesson and only good things to come.

I've done more woodworking this last month than the last two years combined.

I've always dabbled in woodworking but my projects take MONTHS.

It's not a hobby you can do tired of even half tired.. too dangerous.

Then it's a literal dusty/dirty hobby so that's a consideration before doing a "next step" in the shop.

And lastly I've worked two jobs for the last 6 plus years that limits my invested time in a project.

Now that I'm primarily focused on massage school I have available time to do work and worh the new spa space being in the mix there are many projects to work through.

Do you have a hobby you can't invest as much time as you wish you could?

The new spa projects continue though we have been open a week now.

I managed to get this barn door built and hung over the labor day weekend.

It looks straightforward until I tell you this door is 98" x 40" when a normal interior door is just 80" x 36".

So it's huge, heavy, and of course custom so it had a good bit of challenges to overcome.

What I've learned the second week of massage school...

1) Ease into it. There is alot of information to cover and rushing only causes you to feel overwhelmed and forget items.

2) This is absolutely a hands on learning experience. Being able to relate the book reading to the physical world really really helps me.

3) Massage pressure is insanely objective across all the techniques that a therapist can utilize. Everyone has a different body with different preferences.

Now I've gotta get back to learning!

One week away from opening. It's getting real now.

I finished up the exterior vinyl over this past weekend to cut out our need for interior curtains/blinds in that area.

Next up is a few finish trim projects while the contractor finishes fixtures and gets us past inspections.

So here's to the new week!

I love utilizing the things I have.

My brother bought me this battery bank years ago but I've never been able to really maximize how I use it until massage school started.

It's been great to have this backup while juggling the school day, gym sessions, and working on the new spa without being tethered to a wall socket in anyway.

Plus I don't like NOT using the things I own. If I can't use something I don't want it taking up my space at home.

Anyone else like this too?

Everything should have intention.

This is what today's school day is starting with and it reminded me of how similar things have been said to me in my different jobs over the years.

In sales it's very important to clear your mind and be attentive to your customer BEFORE you've engaged with them.

In retail it's important to be intentional of the environment and service BEFORE a customer arrives to the store.

The same goes for a massage. I need to be ready BEFORE I greet a customer and especially before performing a massage.

Intention.

I'm not a framer/carpenter/construction worker at all but I've forced myself to learn just enough to get simple things done.

You can use both electric and gas on your water heater! The dual water heaters are good options for those that want to conserve propane. Propane is better at getting up to temperature more quickly. Making an RV bed doesn't have to suck This is how I personally make up the full size bed in my E Pro 20FBS. Get the bottom tuck and even. Fold the sheet and comforter at least in half. Then walk it forward using your knees to keep it tight. Tuck it at the top and even it out so that when you lastly pull the comforter at the bottom it's nice and even. RV entry door locks There are two different locks on a single entry latch and knowing which is what and what it does is important... It's important because one uses a more universal key than the other. That can be a big deal depending upon the type of travel you're doing and where you store your camper. So the top lock is only to keep from moving thr door handle itself. The bottom is the actual deadbolt and this is what you operate from inside the camper too. Ask for a walkthrough, period. I will ALWAYS say get a walkthrough on a camper you're purchasing no matter how many times you've had one in the past. There are just too many things that are different from camper to camper. So if you're wondering if you should wait to do a tradein....know at the beginning of each month you risk losing money on your new deal.
