Join us Thursday, September 5, at 6:00 pm for a screening of the new film “Dying to Vote”, from the Emmy-winning director Loki Mulholland.

After the screening, Mulholland will participate in a panel discussion on voting rights with Dennis Dahmer, son of slain Civil Rights leader Vernon Dahmer, and Mississippi Today's Jerry Mitchell.

Both the screening and the discussion are free and open to the public.

The voter registration deadline for the November 5 General Election is October 7. Register either in person at the Circuit Clerk's Office or by mail (must be postmarked 30 days prior to election day). The OV Voter Guide provides a detailed, step-by-step process for voting.

'SOIL' explores the overlooked narratives of Black farmers. Embedded within the fertile soil of North Mississippi lies a rich history of stories that are often overshadowed. Hardiman pays tribute to their contributions, through photographs that depict not only the physical landscapes of Black farming but also the complexities of identity, heritage, and resilience. The photographs serve as a portal, and offering glimpses into daily life on the farm, the challenges faced and the unwavering commitment to preserving legacy and community.

We are now interviewing interested members for Cohort 18! Please spread the word and anyone interested to apply online at refilljackson.org/apply.

Throughout our 9-week program, young adults will earn a $1,200 stipend, create a professional resume, complete three mock interview, earn their Smart Start Certificate/Credential and National Career Readiness Certificate, gain on-the-job training and experience, and receive one-on-one support from a Refill social worker to address any obstacles that might arise along the way.

With the full support of Refill staff, every young person will have the opportunity to discern their next best step after graduation and to achieve their goals, whether it's full-time employment, a paid internship, or continuing education. No matter what they decide, every Refill member will continue to receive 10 months of follow-on support services and career coaching as they navigate the workforce and adulthood.
