I have been slow to post about the inspiring few days I recently spent talking with national youth leaders at the Generation Vote National Electoral Justice Summit - but had to take the time to let it settle down in my mind a bit. Seventy-five young people from many different perspectives explored the roots and the status of our nation’s democratic crisis, recognizing that there will be no transformative progress on any issues we care about if we lose our democracy. So much information and inspiration. Looking forward to working with Ry Ferro to make new episodes for PhotoSynthesis Productions web series YOUTH TO POWER.

During the Dorothy Cotton Mural Community Day last weekend, some mostly young people noticed the blank concrete traffic barriers along the creek and went rogue from working on the mural. This wonderful breakout art makes our little corner of downtown especially lively. I love that they included Pete Carroll and his video camera since we were, of course, documenting the creation of the mural. What a great day! Young and old helped get started on our mural of Dorothy Cotton at PhotoSynthesis Productions today. There were a few raindrops here and there but nobody seemed to mind. Shawn Dunwoody needs a couple more days to fill in lots more. Paintbrushes and feet were moving to the beat of DJ Hotpants (Norm Scott) and Ithaca Murals had a table of cool mural merchandise. Thanks go to so many who contributed their time and money to support this project!

Excited about the total eclipse coming to the US in April. PhotoSynthesis Productions went to Bolivia for the National Geographic Society to film a total solar eclipse thirty years ago (yikes!) and it was so amazing that we made the experience part of our identity, as seen in the opening of this short retrospective we made in 2005.
