Located in the facility formerly known as Minot Sound Studios, The KooP is a large, two room studio featuring a plethora of vintage and modern instruments and recording equipment. The 500+ square foot main room serv

es as both a live room and control room, capable of comfortably housing a full band while tracking. The isolation booth is 35 square feet; plenty of space for singers to stretch out and feel comfortable, or to keep a big Leslie from bleeding into the drums. Whether we're tracking a full big band, doing vocal overdubs for an EDM record, or mixing down a slamming rock tune, our flexible space can be easily configured to meet the needs of nearly any type of session. Our Philosophy:
With the advent of digital recording, many aspects of record-making have changed over the last twenty years. What used to require hundreds of thousands of dollars of tape machines, recording consoles and outboard gear can now be done with an interface the size of a textbook plugged into a laptop. While most people agree that this expensive analog equipment sounds better, no one disputes that the possibilities afforded by digital recording have had a massive impact on how songs are written, tracked, mixed and mastered. And yet, while some of these methods of capturing a performance have changed, the fundamentals of making a great record really haven't. A good song performed by good musicians, and an engineer who knows how to capture the essence and emotion of a moment. No amount of expensive vintage microphones, sweet sounding rack equipment, high end computers and pristine converters are going to make a lick of difference if the song isn't ready, the artist isn't happy, or the engineer isn't prepared. At the KooP, we understand that a successful session relies more on these fundamentals than having a lot of flashy equipment. Sure, we have plenty of boutique, high end gear that will add richness and character to a performance, but we also understand that all of it is the icing on the cake. Are the musicians comfortable and confident that their unique sound and vibe is being captured? These are the questions that matter, and are what we ask ourselves every time we press record.

UPGRADE DAY: We spent our Sunday making some big under-the-hood changes to our preamps and patching system. With some help from and , we now have 28 channels of boutique, flavorful preamps for even larger ensembles and productions! New DB-25 tt patchbays make it all accessible and easy to route, while also helping us tame the spaghetti monster that lives behind our desk!

The KooP Studio has a sizeable (~16x22’ w/10’ ceiling) room available for rent in our suite in Irvington, NY.
The space was originally designed as another separate recording studio with it’s own very large, 6x10’ sound booth, soundproof walls and a floating ceiling, but it can be used for anything:

-Recording Studio
-Photo/Video studio
-Office
-Workshop
-Storage
-Gallery/Showroom
-You name it! Just can’t live there….

Here are some perks:

- ALL UTILITIES INCLUDED - yeah that’s right. Electricity, heat, AC, water, internet. It’s all just part of the monthly rent.

- YOUR OWN BRAND NEW SPLIT-DUCTLESS HEATING/COOLING UNIT - no radiators/baseboard or building-wide central system nonsense. You have FULL CONTROL over the climate. And remember…ELECTRICITY IS INCLUDED!!!!

- CAN BE RENTED WITH OR WITHOUT ATTACHED SOUNDBOOTH - if you don’t need it, we’ll take it!

- LOADING DOCK ON THE SAME FLOOR - super easy in and out with no stairs. A dream for those of us who are less mobile

- lobby/client waiting area and kitchen in the suite, shared only with The Koop.

- Semi-private bathrooms right outside the suite that are cleaned and stocked by the building. There’s only one other tenant on the floor so they’re basically just ours.

- The building is a gorgeous mansion on beautiful grounds overlooking the hudson, really lovely place to work.

We’re doin some final construction so no internal pics yet, but we wanted to put feelers out to the Facebook fam before we open it up to the general public. DM us here for details!
