It was indeed all a dream.. Percy Masterson the sophomore drama series out of the WATZS drama portfolio of original concepts pays homage to the iconic character Perry Mason and recognizes the significant contributions of Historically Black Colleges and their law programs, as well as the profound impact of influential figures such as Thurgood Marshall. This docuseries aims to illuminate the richness and beauty of Black American legacies while addressing pressing issues that confront Black Americans today. Additionally, viewers will gain insight into the creative process behind the Zachery sister’s groundbreaking media house.

As esteemed independent minority leaders and co-founders of WATZS Productions, a notable media company located in Dallas, Texas, Kalisha Zachery and Kachelle Zachery will offer a distinctive vantage point for this important discourse.

WATZS Productions’ writer and director, Kachelle Zachery, along with producer Kalisha Zachery, are slated to be featured in the upcoming documentary series It Was All A Dream: The Making of “Percy Masterson.” This production is set to commence filming in the fourth quarter of 2024, continuing through to its actual shooting scheduled for the second quarter of 2025.

An independent production company has successfully generated substantial excitement and anticipation for their new legal drama series, “Percy Masterson.”

Penned by Kachelle Zachery, ‘Percy Masterson’ represents the sophomore venture of a talented writer, whose work we have been diligently following since early this year. This project showcases her distinctive directorial approach focused on intentionality, highlighting the Black American experience and various social causes—a reflection of her profound commitment as a storyteller. As sisters and co-founders of WATZS Productions, we have stood united through myriad endeavors—from “Frame of Reference” one of our many TV drama concepts to financing films for other talented filmmakers, from establishing the WATZS Writers’ Room to empowering Black and minority creatives via opportunities and our symposiums—and numerous projects in between.

We feel deeply fortunate to have realized our vision outside conventional frameworks while still making significant strides. This truly demonstrates that one can accomplish their goals while simultaneously supporting, investing in, and uplifting others.

We are thrilled to announce several exciting updates and look forward to sharing them with you soon. Central to our mission is the empowerment of Black and minority talent, as we remain committed to challenging stereotypes through each narrative we create.

Failing up, that’s luck.. There’s nothing lucky about purpose. Having a vision, pursuing a dream, planning for it, setting goals, being consistent, showing up despite the obstacles and setbacks, then reaching your destiny. That’s intention. And intention takes a lot of time, sacrifice and hard work.

All that to say, KEEP GOING, you’re right where you’re supposed to be.

Women’s History Month. March 13, 2024 will mark the 4th year of Breonna Taylor’s untimely passing. What happened to Breonna was a tragedy, one that has never left me.. although I did not know her personally, I think of her often. Extremely grateful to speak about Breonna and other incredible women who have deeply impacted my life, personally, professionally and artistically.

When Kalisha and I started WATZS Productions we did so with the understanding that we had something different to add. From leading with our values, investing in Black writers, filmmakers and businesses, providing opportunities for minority creatives in front of and behind the camera to curating stories dedicated to our nuance perspectives and layered experiences as Black Americans and minorities.

Thank you Amanda 🫶🏾 and KLTV for inviting us to share our experience on empowering women in media and the making of FRAME OF REFERENCE. We’re extremely grateful for the countless remarkable women making the world a better place. ✨✨
