SHABBAT SHALOM!

Adonai, may it be Your will that I lie down in peace and rise up in peace? Let not my thoughts, my dreams, or my daydreams disturb me. Watch over my family and those I love. O Guardian of Israel, who neither slumbers nor sleeps, I entrust my spirit to You. Wishing YOU a healthy and peaceful Shabbat.

Debra Krusehart-Bio

I didn’t grow up dreaming of becoming a Medicare Agent. My initial
ambition was to be a famous clothing designer, so I earned a BS in
Textiles and Clothing with a minor in Marketing from Iowa State
University. On graduation day, I drove to Texas with no job and no place to live, motivated solely by a company I had visited during a college class trip. I was determined to work there and eventually secured a job because I wouldn’t stop calling them. The person who hired me remains a close friend and even made my wedding dress years later.

I spent many years in the fashion industry, but as it evolved, the
opportunities shifted towards New York and LA. Family obligations made relocating unfeasible, prompting me to change careers and become a National Account Manager.

My interest in becoming a Medicare agent began in 2015 when my dad fell ill and passed away within a month. We struggled to navigate his Medicare plans during that difficult time, which highlighted how little we understood about the system. However, it wasn’t until my mom passed three years later that I decided to pursue this path seriously. I studied diligently to transition into this new field and quickly realized it was a perfect fit. My only regret is not making the switch sooner.

As a Medicare broker, my role is to educate and advocate for anyone eligible for Medicare, helping them understand the system. I represent multiple companies, offering over 50 plans depending on the area. I am paid a commission when a customer enrolls in a plan through me, but there is no additional cost to the consumer, and the plan prices remain the same. It’s my responsibility to review my customers’ plans annually to ensure they have the best coverage and to advocate for them when they have questions or issues with their Medicare plan.

Shirley Jean Tarpley
August 2, 1941 - May 10, 2024

"Your wings were ready, but our hearts were not."

Born and reared in Dallas, Texas, Shirley Tarpley, AKA Sister and Mother Tarpley to the MANY people's hearts and lives she touched.

Sister Tarpley was educated in segregated schools in Dallas; she attended elementary and middle schools, and in 1959 she graduated from Booker T. Washington High School (known today as Booker T. Washington Arts Magnet in North Dallas) which was one of only three African American High Schools in the Dallas Independent School District.

She graduated from Prairie View A & M University, a Historical Black College & University (HBCU) in Prairie View, Texas, with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Education and a Minor Degree in Economics.

Sister Tarpley integrated R. L. Turner High School, the only high school in the Carrollton-Farmers Branch I.S.D. at the time. With the exception of her first year of teaching at RLT, she was voted one of the Top 10 Teachers by each senior class until she transferred Newman Smith High School in 1978. She remained at NSHS until her retirement in 1996.

Ms. Tarpley NEVER stopped being a pillar to our community. Thank you Ms. Tarpley for making our city stronger and better.
