Seagate and Sony to collaborate on hard drive technology for artificial intelligence
The Nikkei newspaper said on Friday that Sony (6758.T) has opened a new tab to collaborate with US-based Seagate Technology on the mass production of hard disc drives (HDDs) in order to fulfil the increasing demand for AI.
According to Nikkei, Sony Semiconductor Solutions plans to invest roughly 5 billion yen ($33 million) in new production lines and is anticipated to begin mass production of the lasers used in the drives in May.
