Fallen Land is a hybrid role-playing, card and strategy board game. Set in a dark and brooding post-apocalyptic sci-fi setting, Fallen Land is driven by macabre stories of a world gone mad. It incorporates the diverse elements of adventure, politics and economics to deliver a unique gaming experience. While the game's roots are based on actual Cold War studies, scenarios and compiled research--we
have expanded and theorized upon these elements to arrive at our game's premise: What would happen after a nuclear and biological apocalypse? Our answer is Fallen Land. To set the stage for your journey exploring the world, we have harnessed the classic characteristics of "pulp-fiction." The now famous pulp magazines were categorized by their lurid and exploitative short stories, and were brought to life by their eye-popping artwork from 1895 until the late 1950s. Today's modern comics and graphic novels are the descendants of this classic brand of storytelling, which featured heroic characters such as: The Shadow, Doc Savage and The Phantom Detective. In addition, Fallen Land contains the elements of a "Choose Your Own Adventure," because each time it is played, the game's variables change: the storyline, your cards, threats, player interactions and strategies. The First Edition of the game is comprised of over 1,200 cards; featuring 900 pieces of original artwork and 800 short stories. Therefore, the combinations are limitless. As players in Fallen Land, you are the political leaders of a unique faction of survivors competing for primacy in the ruinous aftermath of post-apocalyptic America. You must oversee the diverse aspects of running a town, amidst a complex myriad of bribery and betrayal by other the players. Scrambling to secure resources, build your town, and protect your citizens--you will have to make and break treaties to endure; utilizing any and all means at your disposal. But that is just where the adventure begins! You must also utilize a party of characters (your agents), to explore the ruinous landscape, establish your territory and solidify your political and economic agenda. Combined, these elements make Fallen one of the most cut-throat and challenging strategy games in existence. A standard game of Fallen Land take's about 1 hour per participant and can be enjoyed by a group of 2-6 players. It features a unique gaming system, as of yet unseen by the gaming community. Utilizing diverse decks of cards, dice, town play mats, chips and a detailed map. The core decks are comprised of a Character Deck (your agents), a Spoils Deck (equipment) and 3 Encounter Decks (short stories), a Mission Deck (complex stories), and an Action Deck (that modifies game play). Each of these elements represent a variable in the Fallen Land equation: the telling of a unique tale of survival and a rise to primacy.
