ALA Girls Nation led by the American Legion Auxiliary is a leadership and civics program designed for rising seniors who have been chosen from their state’s ALA program. During ALA Girls Nation in Washington, D.C, the participants are known as « senators » serving in a mock legislature in which they are responsible for submitting bills and resolutions.
In the summer leading up to her senior year, Saanvi Yarrapotu participated in the program. Yarrapotu said, “It was a crazy experience, and just do it. Even if you don’t make it to Girls Nations. Even if you don’t win. The people who didn’t win were out here having fun.”
