To the old farmer driving his tractor down the road today. I saw you waving at me to pass you when it was clear, I saw you tip your hat and wipe the sweat from your forehead and I saw the sweat running down the back of your shirt. Don't worry about me being behind you, I'm just going to follow you with my hazard lights on until you turn off.
When you turned your head back the second time and saw my hazard lights on and waved a thank you to me, it made me smile. I'll keep you safe because I appreciate how hard you work to make a living. I know you're up before me and I know your still working when I'm resting at home. I'm okay driving a little slower and taking in all the fields that you work. They're perfect just like you.
Thank you for slowing me down so I can reflect on the importance of what you do and what you bring to the table. ❤️ You just keep driving Sir and I'll just keep following.
Author: Wenda
Dusty old farmer out working your fields
Hanging down over your tractor wheels
The sun beatin' down turns the red paint to orange
And rusty old patches of steel
There's no farmer songs on that car radio
Just cowboys, truck drivers and pain
Well this is my way to say thanks for the meal
And I hope there's no shortage of rain
Straw hats and old dirty hankies
Moppin' a face like a shoe
Thanks for the meal here's a song that is real
From a kid from the city to you
The combines gang up, take most of the bread
Things just ain't like they used to be
Though your kids are out after the American dream
And they're workin in big factories
Now If I come on by, when you're out in the sun
Can I wave at you just like a friend
These days when everyone's taking so much
There's somebody giving back in
Straw hats and old dirty hankies
Moppin' a face like a shoe
Thanks for the meal here's a song that is real
From a kid from the city to you.

Mark Andrew Spitz is a nine-time Olympic gold medal-winning swimmer. He won seven gold medals at the 1972 Summer Olympics a record not passed until Michael Phelps won eight in 2008. He is 74 years old (February 10, 1950) and was born in Modesto, California.
The family moved to Honolulu when Spitz was a toddler but they were back on the US mainland a few years later. He joined a Sacramento area swim club at the age of six. By the time he was nine, he was being coached by Hall of Fame Swimming coach Sherm Chavoor. When the family moved to Santa Clara, California, he was coached by another Hall of Famer, George Haines.
In 1967, Spitz set his first World Record in the 400m Freestyle. By the time the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City rolled around, he owned 10 World Records. He was disappointed with his results in Mexico City, winning two gold medals. They were in the 4x100m Freestyle Relay and the 4x200m Freestyle Relay. He won a silver medal in the 100m Butterfly and a bronze in the 100m Freestyle.
Spitz’s Olympic coach in Mexico City was legendary Indiana University Swim Coach James “Doc” Counsilman. He decided to attend Indiana and won eight NCAA titles while there. The Hoosiers won six consecutive team swimming titles in the late 60s and early 70s., four of which he was a part of. He won the James E. Sullivan Award in 1971 as the nation’s top amateur athlete. He was accepted to the IU School of Dentistry but his life went a different direction.
In 1972, Spitz ran the table in Munich for the Games of the XX Olympiad. He won seven gold medals setting new World Records in each event. As an individual, he won the 200m Butterfly, 200m Freestyle, 100m Butterfly, and 100m Freestyle. As part of relay teams, he won gold in the 4x100 Freestyle Relay, 4x200m Freestyle Relay, and the 4x100m Medley Relay. The seven golds in a single Olympics were a record that stood until Michael Phelps eclipsed that with eight in 2008 in Bejing.
Spitz retired from swimming at the age of 22. Nearly 20 years later, he was offered a million dollars if he could qualify for the 1992 games. He failed.
After Spitz retired from swimming, he made an attempt at show business. He did appear in a few television shows but that career largely failed. He has been an occasional television analyst for the Summer Olympics.
Spitz initially made significant money from his fame from endorsements. As time went by, his fame and those dollars faded. He has worked as a motivational speaker, corporate spokesperson, and stockbroker. He still gets occasional commercial endorsement contracts.
Spitz has two sons with Suzy Weiner (pictured, 2023). They have been married for 51 years. They live in the Westwood neighborhood of Los Angeles, near the UCLA campus.

I've been trying to seek out more uplifting, positive news to balance things out.
The kind of stories that remind you there's still so much good in the world, even amidst all the challenges.
It's a great example of the kind of story that makes me grateful.
Marco Mancinelli took this picture.
He wrote:
I had been on assignment at a Detroit Montessori school for two days, and shot hundreds of photos.
Some were very good, but I knew I hadn't gotten THE shot.
That afternoon, as we all sat on the floor in a circle listening to a story, I bowed my head and asked God to let me see something great.
When I raised my head, this little girl leaned over to lay her head on the little boy's lap.
He very gently lifted his arm to receive her.
I call this photo 'The Age of Innocence.'

Yesterday Baby Gurl calls dad crying - she left her wallet on the bus😳 We're all upset and she naively asks if she'll get it back. Not wanting to crush her spirit anymore-I admitted it was highly unlikely. Get home and there is a young man banging on my door, stirring up the babies... ? Can I help you? He responds he's looking for AK.? So who are you? He begins-i found her wallet on the bus and wanted to return it. Everything is still in it, even the money. It happened to me a few weeks ago and I know how bad it feels. Dad took money out of his pocket and gave him what he had. I couldn't let him go, we talked, he touched my heart some more so I reached into her wallet and gave him the $20 that was sitting there😜 Turns out young Baxter is 19, goes to school in NY AND is the son of a co-worker(small world)... This gesture has doused my cynicism and restored my faith. Mr&Mrs Charles Perkins you should be proud AND he has become an honorary member of our fam 😍

WARNING FOR ALL MALES FROM ME when buying a security device for a loved one.
Last weekend I saw something at The Gun Show that sparked my interest. I was looking for a little something different for my wife Dana. What I came across was a 100,000-volt, pocket/purse-sized Tazer.
The effects of the Taser were supposed to be short lived, with no long term adverse effect on your assailant, allowing her adequate time to retreat to safety...??
WAY TOO COOL! Long story short, I bought the device and brought it home.. I loaded two AAA batteries in the darn thing and pushed the button. Nothing! I was disappointed I learned, however, that if I pushed the button and pressed it against a metal surface at the same time, I'd get the blue arc of electricity darting back and forth between the prongs.
AWESOME!!! Unfortunately, I have yet to explain to Dana what that burn spot is on the face of her microwave.
Okay, so I was home alone with this new toy, thinking to myself that it couldn't be all that bad with only two AAA batteries, right?
There I sat in my recliner, my cat Leo looking on intently (trusting little soul) while I was reading the directions and thinking that I really needed to try this thing out on a flesh & blood moving target.
I must admit I thought about zapping Leo (for a fraction of a second) and then thought better of it. He is such a sweet cat. But, if I was going to give this thing to my wife to protect herself against a mugger, I did want some assurance that it would work as advertised.
Am I wrong?
So, there I sat in a pair of shorts and a singlet with my reading glasses perched delicately on the bridge of my nose, directions in one hand, and Taser in another.
The directions said that:
a one-second burst would shock and disorient your assailant;
a two-second burst was supposed to cause muscle spasms and a major loss of bodily control; and
a three-second burst would purportedly make your assailant flop on the ground like a fish out of water.
Any burst longer than three seconds would be wasting the batteries.
All the while I'm looking at this little device measuring about 5" long, less than 3/4 inch in circumference (loaded with two itsy, bitsy AAA batteries); pretty cute really, and thinking to myself, 'no possible way!'
What happened next is almost beyond description, but I'll do my best.
I'm sitting there alone, the cat looking on with his head cocked to one side so as to say, 'Don't do it stupid,' reasoning that a one second burst from such a tiny lil ole thing couldn't hurt all that bad.. I decided to give myself a one second burst just for heck of it.
I touched the prongs to my naked thigh, pushed the button, and...
HOLY MOTHER OF GOD. WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION. WHAT THE... !!! I AM CERTAIN I JUST MET JESUS!!!
I'm pretty sure Hulk Hogan ran in through the side door, picked me up in the recliner, then body slammed us both on the carpet, over and over and over again. I vaguely recall waking up on my side in the fetal position, with tears in my eyes, body soaking wet, both ni***es on fire, testicles nowhere to be found, with my left arm tucked under my body in the oddest position, and tingling in my legs! The cat was making meowing sounds I had never heard before, clinging to a picture frame hanging above the fireplace, obviously in an attempt to avoid getting slammed by my body flopping all over the living room.
Note:
If you ever feel compelled to 'mug' yourself with a Taser,
one note of caution:
There is NO such thing as a one second burst when you zap yourself! You will not let go of that thing until it is dislodged from your hand by a violent thrashing about on the floor!
A three second burst would be considered conservative!
A minute or so later (I can't be sure, as time was a relative thing at that point), I collected my wits (what little I had left), sat up and surveyed the landscape.
· My bent reading glasses were on the top of the TV.
· The recliner was upside down and about 8 feet or so from where it originally was.
· My triceps, right thigh and both ni***es were still twitching.
· My face felt like it had been shot up with Novocain, and my bottom lip weighed 88 lbs.
· I had no control over the drooling.
· Apparently I had crapped in my shorts, but was too numb to know for sure, and my sense of smell was gone.
· I saw a faint smoke cloud above my head, which I believe came from my hair.
I'm still looking for my testicles and I'm offering a significant reward for their safe return!
PS: My wife can't stop laughing about my experience, loved the gift and now regularly threatens me with it!

“This afternoon I was coming up my street and I noticed a stopped USPS truck across from my house. It wasn’t until I was at my driveway that I realized the USPS driver was not in the truck, but rather standing at attention next to it, saluting the flag my neighbor was raising. I stopped right there and grabbed my camera off the seat next to me, took off my hat, and captured the moment.
I then waited until the flag was fully raised before I walked over to introduce myself, asked him for his permission to share this moment, and thanked him for his service. But again, many thanks to retired U.S. Army sergeant Robert Franklin, who is still serving his country, rain sleet or snow. He is the manifestation of true patriotism, and I am proud to have met him.”

A father told his daughter, "Congrats on your graduation. I bought you a car a while back. I want you to have it now."
Before I give it to you, take it to a car dealer in the city and sell it. See how much they offer.”
The girl came back to her father and said: "They offered me $10,000 dollars because it looks very old"
Father said: "Ok, now take it to the pawn shop".
The girl returns to her father and said: "The pawn shop offered $1,000 dollars because it's a very old car and a lot of work done".
The father told her to join a passionate car club with experts and show them the car. The girl drove to the passionate car club. She returned to her father after a few hours and told him, “Some people in the club offered me $100,000 dollars because its a rare car that's in good condition.”
Then the father said, "I wanted to let you know that you are not worth anything if you are not in the right place. If you are not appreciated, do not be angry, that means you are in the wrong place. "Don't stay in a place where no one sees your value ."

My heart is incredibly heavy today, in the wee hours of the morning my beautiful daughter got that knock on her door that no military spouse wants to get. Her strong, handsome, incredibly brave husband of less than a year was one of the 13 Marines that gave his life yesterday in Kabul. She’s 36 weeks pregnant and she lost her love. I never got to meet him, but I will meet his baby, and I will love and spoil that baby forever. 💜 please hold her in your heart and soul because she needs it, this mama knows exactly what she’s going though.

′′ I have chosen loneliness to defend myself. I protect myself from humanity around me, from this loud and intrusive humanity. I live surrounded by animals, trees, flowers. I have horses, donkeys, rams, goats, pigs, chickens, ducks, geese, pigeons. Then of course dogs and cats. I don't even know how many there are...
I feel much closer to nature and animals than humans. I confess I hate most of the human species. I accepted the cause of animals to finally make sense of my existence here. I'm trying to explain to the man that cruelty inflicted on animals is unworthy, unacceptable, inhumane precisely...

This wild Kingfisher's grandparent, I found in the garden, nearly dead, some years ago. Nursed him back to health, and set him free. The next morning, the family swooped down, past me, in gratitude.
A couple of years later, I awoke to find the next generation, a parent of this bird, waiting for me on the terrace, his wing seemed broken. I picked him up and examined him. He never flinched, and stared deeply into my eyes. A thorn had locked his wing from operating. I pulled it out, and set him free. Without fail, he passes my window every day at the same time, crying out to me.
This baby, sat in the tree, eye to eye with me, then flew directly to my hand, and sat there for several minutes, before flying away.
Intuition, compassion, good intent, those essences of love, was all we had. Pure, unspoken.
An energy that has no end, and passes silently onward, much further than we can imagine.

Being in a relationship with a hard-working man is not for everyone.
This is why some women these days are interested in men with no life perspective.
Having a relationship with a hard working man is to understand that he might not always be available for you.
You may think, there are times where he will not always seem invested in the relationship, but its not the case at all, its quite the opposite, he wakes up every morning and works hard every chance he can to create a stable future for you .
You need to understand there will be days where he will most likely be tired and he'll barely have time to take a shower and give you a kiss and head to bed to get some much needed sleep to start it all over again the first thing in the morning.
Do not take this kind of man for granted.
He might come off a little rough around the edges because of his dirty callused hands and greased stained shirt, but this man will love you with a type of love you have never experienced before.
So here is to the hardworking men that are married to the woman of their dreams that get up every morning and work hard everyday for their families in order to live a life they have always dreamed of.

“8 years ago, today Iver was born.
My wife, Robyn, whose brain had stopped working, but her body and heart had been keeping Iver alive for weeks 22-28 of her pregnancy, would be taken off of life support.
The 5 hours between meeting Iver and saying goodbye to Robyn were the hardest moments of my life. I lost my wife, but I was given the gift of becoming a father to my little miracle man.
Iver was born at 2lbs 13oz, and we spent the next 12 weeks in the NICU before I came home with him.
Today, he’s 8. He’s incredibly smart, funny, caring, outgoing, loving, thoughtful, adventurous, and kind. I’m grateful for every day with this wonderful boy and for the gift of being his father.

On my way home, I witnessed a vehicle hit a motorcycle from behind and send the driver 25 feet into the air landing him in a ditch. I immediately called 911, pulled over and climbed down to stay with him until they arrived. He wasn’t moving and I assumed the worst.
A medical professional happened to be driving by and pulled over to help as we waited. I stayed and held Joe’s hand and asked him questions to keep him awake and with us. He told me about his wife, joked about his motorcycle and asked me to take photos so he had a cool story to tell.
Once EMS arrived, I backed away and a woman watching said " I’m shocked you did all that." She saw my confused face and replied with "Honey, this is the south. I’m just saying. I’m shocked you did all that for him" and my heart sank. I was speechless. I didn’t care what he looked like. I didn’t care how long I had to sit there. I didn’t care about social distancing. He needed help.
We don’t have to look the same to be kind to one another. Not a single person is born hating others because of race, political views or background. People learn to hate. My favorite saying by Nelson Mandela, 'If they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love.' Love everyone, including yourself. Humanity is my race and love knows no boundaries."

🐝 "I've been asking for farm labor help this week. I've had a few projects going here at home and just needed a few extra hands to complete em. Fortunately my sons Caldon Cook and Dillon Cook came through for me and helped the last few days. Yesterday, we had to go pick up some materials in town. So we stopped for lunch at the waffle house. As we were sitting there this guy walks up in the parking lot and sits down on the side walk. You could tell he was hitch hiking or just homeless. He was covered from the top of his head to his toes in tattoos, and weathered by the sun. There were a few folks inside and they began to talk. Look at this guy. What the hell is he doin? Etc. I looked out our window at him. I knocked on the window to get his attention. With hand gestures I ask, are you hungry? He nodded yes. I motioned for him to come inside. He did. I told him to order a meal. I would take care of the bill. He said are you sure. I said absolutely. He said 'sir I appreciate it.' I told the waitress give him what he wants. He sat at a table alone. His food arrived and before digging in as you may thought a hungry man would, he gave thanks to God for his meal. He then said to me, 'I haven't always been homeless. And i know i look strange to people with all these tattoos. Man I've been hunting a job but people take one look at me and say no way.' I said, do you really wanna work? He said 'yes sir i need to work.' I said where are you staying? He said I'm sleeping on some church porches around here. I said well tomorrow I'm laying 10 pallets of sod. If you will be at this waffle house at 7:45 in the morning you can work with us. He said 'I'll be there.' He said can i tell you something, I said sure. He said i have not eaten in a few days. And i kept asking the Lord what to do. He said the Lord told him to come sit there and wait. I paid for his meal and assured him i would see him in the morning. Well sure enough Caldon Cook went and picked him up this morning. He said Mr. johnny I've never layed sod but I'll work hard. I said all I ask is you be straight clean and respectful. He said I'm more than that. He worked alll day with us laying sod. We went to lunch. He prayed again. We came back and finished the job. He worked his heart out and was proud of what we had accomplished. I paid him and took him to a local motel. Where he can stay the night and I'll pick him up again tomorrow. Everyone has a story. Maybe not the same as mine or yours. A man on a curb is not always looking for a handout sometimes they just need help up. I'm certain my boys will always remember this."

A Galapagos sea lion named Panchita was caught up in a net, which left deep cuts all over her body. She managed to get away and make it to this hotel, where animal advocates lovingly nursed her back to health for three months.
A special bond was formed between Panchita and her rescuers. After she was fully healed, Panchita was released back to her natural habitat in the wild. But every day she returns to visit the humans who rescued her after being out at sea all day. She spends time with her rescuers and takes a peaceful, afternoon nap on her special chair. Then she'll return to the sea, and her rescuers know she'll be back to visit them the next day.

"I hope you have a minute for some good news. Well, it was good. Then it was bad. And now it's good again. This is Rick. For the last couple of years, Rick has been quietly mowing lawns around Chickasha, OK, free of charge, for people who can't do it themselves. A lot of lawns. 274 last year. Closing in on a goal of 300 this year. Until someone decided to steal his mower a few days ago.
With the help of a few very generous people, this afternoon a new mower was purchased and delivered to Rick. I have never met anyone so grateful and appreciative! Rick is a veteran and on a fixed income, and didn't have the funds to replace it.
Speaking of veterans, one of the recipients of his kindness is a 97 year old veteran of WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. Rick's payment is the joy he gets from helping someone in need and sometimes, a cold glass of lemonade. Bless you sir for what you're doing."

I had spent an hour in the bank with my dad, as he had to transfer some money. I couldn't resist myself & asked...
''Dad, why don't we activate your internet banking?''
''Why would I do that?'' He asked...
''Well, then you wont have to spend an hour here for things like transfer.
You can even do your shopping online. Everything will be so easy!''
I was so excited about initiating him into the world of Net banking.
He asked ''If I do that, I wont have to step out of the house?
''Yes, yes''! I said. I told him how even grocery can be delivered at door now and how amazon delivers everything!
His answer left me tongue-tied.
He said ''Since I entered this bank today, I have met four of my friends, I have chatted a while with the staff who know me very well by now.
You know I am alone...this is the company that I need. I like to get ready and come to the bank. I have enough time, it is the physical touch that I crave.
Two years back I got sick, The store owner from whom I buy fruits, came to see me and sat by my bedside and cried.
When your Mom fell down few days back while on her morning walk. Our local grocer saw her and immediately got his car to rush her home as he knows where I live.
Would I have that 'human' touch if everything became online?
Why would I want everything delivered to me and force me to interact with just my computer?
I like to know the person that I'm dealing with and not just the 'seller'. It creates bonds of Relationships.
Does Amazon deliver all this as well?'''

A woman decided to give herself a big treat for her 70th birthday by staying overnight in a really nice hotel.. When she checked out the next morning, the desk clerk handed her a bill for $250.00. She demanded to know why the charge was so high "I agree it's a nice hotel, but the rooms aren't worth $250..00 for just an overnight stay - I didn't even have breakfast!" The clerk told her that $250.00 is the 'standard rate,' and breakfast had been included had she wanted it.
She insisted on speaking to the Manager. The Manager appeared and, forewarned by the desk clerk, announced: "This hotel has an Olympic-sized pool and a huge conference center which are available for use." "But I didn't use them." 'Well, they are here, and you could have." He went on to explain that she could also have seen one of the in-hotel shows for which they were so famous. "We have the best entertainers from the world over performing here." "But I didn't go to any of those shows.." "Well, we have them, and you could have." No matter what amenity the Manager mentioned, she replied, "But I didn't use it!" and the Manager countered with his standard response. After several minutes discussion, and with the Manager still unmoved, she decided to pay, wrote a check and gave it to him. The Manager was surprised when he looked at the check. "But Madam, this check is for only $50.00" "That's correct I charged you $200.00 for sleeping with me." "But I didn't!" "Well, too bad, I was here, and you could have." 🤣

This is John Eisenman. He lost his daughter to sexual trafficking. She was sold for $1,000 in Seattle Washington. He did what a father should do and researched, investigated and found out about her abduction. He RESCUED her HIMSELF. He found out the person who sold her into trafficking was her 19 year old boyfriend. He met up with him, abducted him, bludgeoned and stabbed him to death in Nov, 2020. The authorities found him [dead AF boyfriend] in Oct 2021 in the trunk of the car he abandoned. John Eisenman sits in jail knowing his daughter is safe and growing up after he has already lived 60 years of his life. I bet you, he rests easy. Live your life to the fullest. Do your absolute best to make sure your children have the opportunity to do the same no matter what the sacrifice. I will be sending John some commissary money. I hope he gets to see freedom with his daughter one day. He deserves a medal 🏅

Today I should have been ninety four,
I would be having a party with cake
I’d have two fine sons and a daughter too
Grandchildren to cuddle and stay.
I’d have met a great man, dashing and tall
He’d have worked in an office in town
We’d have lived in the country, two dogs and a cat
I’d have had a fine wedding gown.
Margot would have lived nearby,
Surely a mother herself?
My mother and father would have been so proud
We’d have raised a glass to good health.
Instead we slept on wooden slats
As we shivered with hunger and cold
We were beaten for any discriminatory thing
We were given no toys to hold.
My mother was starving, she gave us her food
Scabies was rife in our camp
I wanted to die, this wasn’t life
Living with rats in the damp.
My best friend was in the camp next door
I missed her riotous laugh
I was glad to have my sister with me
Loneliness, was my first and my last.
I dreamed of food that I could eat
I wished for potatoes and meat
If I survived, I’d wash it all down
With wine and something sweet.
Typhus arrived and we both got sick
Doctors were never called in
We died one by one, Margot went first
Death was an easier win.
I hope I didn’t die in vain
I hope the world has learned
Hatred has no place in life
My diary forever preserved.

"Was sitting at breakfast in Hampton Beach and across the restaurant were five SUPER CUTE elderly ladies. I don’t know why but it made me miss my mom hard and I felt a strong urge to pick up their check.
I don’t know them and didn’t want to bother them but I just did it.
Then I was just gonna leave cause a lot of times it’s better to just do nice deeds without asking for acknowledgment but something felt like I should tell them I missed my mom, like they might like to hear that.
So I walked over and said “you are five of the sweetest ladies I’ve ever seen, I lost my mom awhile back and something about seeing you made me miss her this morning so I’m getting your check.” The lady on the end popped up with arms wide open and said “COME HERE, I lost my son and really needed this.” And then she gave me a mom hug I needed and I gave her a son hug she needed. We are all so connected.

I would just like to share what I witnessed yesterday morning at Bagels N' Buns. I was waiting at the counter for an order and a homeless man asked one of the employees to please fill his half gallon, plastic milk carton with water. The worker said “what are you going to use it for?” Now I’m jumping the gun in my head, thinking he was going to say that if he wanted it for drinking he has to buy a bottle blah blah blah… The man said “to drink”, the employee told him to “please go over to the cooler and get whatever size water he’d like.” He then filled up the milk carton as requested. The man thanked the employee for the water but said he was really hungry and could use a meal. The worker Benny said “no problem! What would you like?” The man gave him his order and he got to it with a smile on his face. I then went over to the register to ask Kathie (who is AMAZING) if I could give her money for him, to use a credit for a few meals. She replied “Janessa, that is so kind, but we feed him whenever he is hungry. He always has a meal here, when he needs.” They’ve been doing it for years!!! Another reason for me to love them over there. I was really moved by the whole situation. I felt the need to share this because when businesses give from the heart, when they are hurting the most, they deserve a shout out ❤️🥯 BIG love shout to Mike, Katie, and the whole crew at Bagels n Buns ❤️
