Unity Day is a free event sponsored by People of Action, the Barnstable Police Department and the Town of Barnstable, that is intended to bring the community together to engage with local police and others in a fun and memorable way. 🚔
There will be free food, games, dancing, music, and activities for all ages. Please bring your own chairs and blankets and enjoy a beautiful summer night with us on the Hyannis Village Green. 🌭 🥁 🥏

TownTalk - Gateway to Pre-K Grant Presentation
On our latest episode of TownTalk; Governor Healey gives a "Gateway to Pre-K" Grant Presentation at the YMCA Cape Cod.
The Healey/Driscoll administration unveiled an initiative at the beginning of 2024 called "Gateway to Pre-K;" where the Healey/Driscoll administration set out a goal to bring universal Pre-K to all 26 Gateway cities across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts by the year 2026.
Governor Healey announced that a combined $3.4 Million will be awarded to Barnstable Public Schools and 15 other Massachusetts school districts to give more students access to a high-quality pre-school education. This is the first time that the Town of Barnstable has been awarded CPPI (Commonwealth Preschool Partnership Initiative) funding.

Barnstable Police Department Remarks Regarding the Events at St. Francis Circle on Wednesday March 6, 2024
Happy #FirstResponderFriday, Barnstable! 🚓
Barnstable Police Department Chief Jean Challies provided some remarks at last night's Town Council meeting regarding the successful outcome of the event that took place at St. Francis Circle in Hyannis on Wednesday March 6th.
She recognized Lieutenant Michael Riley (the Commander of the Cape Cod Regional SWAT Team) for his leadership and calm demeanor throughout the whole incident. Chief Challies also commended the other members of the Cape Cod Regional SWAT Team, Massachusetts State Police, Barnstable County Sheriff's Office and the METRO SWAT Team who were able to apprehend the barricaded suspect who had fired multiple pistol and rifle rounds during the negotiation process.
Chief Challies mentioned how it was a team effort from the entire Barnstable Police Department to make sure that this situation had the positive outcome that it did. None of the responding officers or the suspect was hurt during Wednesday's incident. 👏
Thank you again to the BPD and all of the public safety agencies that keep the Town of Barnstable and the rest of our region safe!

Are you ready for the summer beach season, Barnstable? 😎
We are encouraging everyone to apply for their beach parking permit now to have their permit within a timely manner. An increased number of permit applications will make processing times significantly longer as the summer approaches. 🏖 🚗
Beach parking permits may be obtained by accessing our online system, by mail or the drop box located at the Hyannis Youth and Community Center. 💻 📬

Hyannis Golf Course Clubhouse Renovation Update - January 2024
The Hyannis Golf Course Clubhouse had an unfortunate pipe burst back in February of 2023, which caused imense damage throughout the building. ⚠️
We recently went to the Hyannis Golf Course to get an update on the Clubhouse renovation project from the Town of Barnstable's Community Services Director, Chris Gonnella. 🛠 🚧
Chris shares how Barnstable is using these unfortunate circumstance to provide necessary updates to the building. Some of these building upgrades include a new kitchen, renovated bathrooms on the pro-shop level, and even ADA access in the clubhouse (including a new lift). 👏
Chris also provies his expected timeline for this project; which he is hopeful that the clubhouse will re-open for the 2025 golf season. ⛳️
