The City of Great Bend is advising residents living on Broadway, between Main Street and Cherry Lane, as well as those who live on 24th Street between Main Street and McKinley, to not park on the streets due to the potential weather on Monday night, Feb. 17, and into Tuesday, Feb. 18.

This approach is being tried again in these areas to facilitate more effective and safer snow removal by allowing crews to clear the snow more efficiently.

Garrett Huddleston started at Hutch Rec on Feb. 3 as the agency’s Sports Coordinator. The Hutchinson native has a sports background that includes previous roles at the Wichita Wind Surge and Wichita Thunder.

“The ability to give back to the community that I have lived in for so long really drew me to Hutch Rec,” Huddleston says. “I look forward to pursuing Hutch Rec’s mission of providing lifelong wellness as well as expanding our diversity and number of participants within all recreational programs.”

Great Bend Economic Development announced that the latest session of the Entrepreneurial Mindset class based on the book Who Owns the Ice House?, has successfully concluded, leaving participants with valuable insights and a renewed perspective on business and problem-solving.

Out of the 11 individuals who enrolled, eight received a 50% refund on their class fees for attending five or more of the six sessions. Participants ranged from current business owners and startups to professionals seeking to apply entrepreneurial thinking in their existing careers.

REMINDER: The Hutch Chamber Legislative Forum will begin on Saturday, Feb.15 from 9-10:30 a.m. at the Stringer Fine Arts Center, B.J. Warner Recital Hall, 600 E. 11th, Hutchinson.

Reno County legislators invited to participate are Senator Michael Murphy, Representative Joe Seiwert, Representative Paul Waggoner, Representative Kyler Sweeley, and Representative Kevin Schwertfeger.

Written questions will be accepted that morning. Questions may also be submitted in advance at hutchchamber.com/advocacy/legislativeforum.

🏆🏀 Congratulations to Ad Astra Radio's Athlete of the Week, Alex Suter-Tan, Trinity Catholic Jr/Sr High School sophomore and point guard for the Lady Celtics!

Suter-Tan set, and later tied, her career-high in scoring with 22 points! Her first 22-point night came in a close 39-35 loss to Wichita Central Christian Academy, and Suter-Tan followed up that performance with 22 more points in a 53-45 win over Sedgwick.

Suter-Tan is having a breakout season for the Celtics, averaging 17.1 points a game and has scored at least 20 points in four straight games. She has also scored 15 points or more 11 times and leads the Celtics with 23 3-pointers made. She also averages 5.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game.

Great Bend, Ks, February 11, 2025- Please be advised that with the impending weather, we are kindly asking individuals to not park on the street that live on:
• Broadway between Main Street and Cherry Lane
• 24th Street between Main Street and McKinley
We are trying a new approach to snow removal in these areas with the hope this will allow crews to clear snow more effectively and safely. We are in hopes that this will minimize the amount of driveways that will be blocked due to our removal efforts. As is during the main operations of removal we will not be opening driveways. We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our streets clear and safe.
Please be attentive as crew members work in the clearing of snow and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and would like to thank you again for your patience.
