Join us on Thursday, November 7, for the November ProfSPEAK! Dr. Victoria Lantz will be presenting on "Wild Frontier Fantasylands: Disney’s Recreations of Davy Crockett, Buffalo Bill, and American Expansionism" at 2 PM in the LSC Theater.

Dr. Victoria Pettersen Lantz (she/her/hers) is a scholar, dramaturg, and artist living in East Texas, where she is an Associate Professor and Associate Chair in the Theatre and Musical Theatre department at Sam Houston State University and serves as the coordinator of the Theatre Teacher Certification BFA. Recent work includes dramaturging at American Players Theatre, articles in The Journal of American Culture, Popular Culture Review, The Journal of Popular Culture, and a chapter in Fan Phenomena: Disney. She is on the editorial board for The International Journal of Disney Studies.

Rejoice! For this semester's social outing, we will be going to the Texas Renaissance Festival on Saturday, November 9. This event will be all day and tickets cost $20. The Honors College

The Honors College is designed to attract and retain highly competent and motivated students and seeks to create an intellectual and social climate that encourages students to develop their potential both in and out of the classroom. To this end, the Honors College creates a community of scholars, wherein both students and professors interact and challenge each other in developing their abilities.

Specifically, the Honors College provides personalized instruction and mentor-ship opportunities in supporting the University's overall mission of high academic standards and community service. Graduating with Honors from Sam Houston State University provides definite advantages for students entering graduate or professional school, as well as those starting out in their chosen profession.
