Cabell County Schools celebrates the opening of the new Davis Creek Elementary School with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday, Aug. 5, 2024.
On Friday, special guests including Batman, Black Panther, Deadpool, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Thor and Wonder Woman rappelled down the side of Hoops Family Children's Hospital at Cabell Huntington Hospital, doing tricks, flips and posing for photos along the way.
The superheroes are window washers from High Access/Central Window Cleaning, a Cleveland-based company.

Huntington's Kitchen hosts Chef Paul Smith, who won the 2024 James Beard Award for Best Chef: Southeast, for an evening of culinary stories and conversation Thursday, July 25, 2024.
Smith is the first West Virginian to win the award.

Marshall Baseball Has A New Home
For the first time in school history, the Marshall University Baseball team has a stadium in Jack Cook Field. The Thundering Herd christened their new home against the Manhattan Jaspers on March 1, 2024.
53 years ago today, 75 members of the Marshall football program perished in a plane crash near Huntington, W.Va. Their lives were celebrate in the annual service beside the Memorial Fountain on Marshall's campus.
