Hoover police said in a news conference today that 25-year-old Carlethia “Carlee” Russell left work at the Summit around 8:20 Thursday night. HPD said she stopped to pick up food from a restaurant at the Colonnade off of HWY 280 before driving towards Hoover via I-459. Police added Russell stopped close to Mile Marker 11 which is near the Galleria Mall flyer over and Exit 10 for HWY 150.

the Hoover 911 Center received a call from a 25-year-old female on I-459 South near mile marker 11 who reported she saw a toddler walking on the side of the interstate. After calling 911 the caller stopped to check on the child and called a family member to report the same details. The family member lost contact with her, but the line remained open. Officers who were already en route to the location of the initial 911 call located the female’s vehicle and some of her belongings nearby, but were unable to find her or a child in the area. Hoover Police have not received any other calls of someone missing a small child.

HPD said a single witness reported seeing a grey vehicle and a light-complected male standing outside of Russell’s vehicle. Police also said they found Russell's phone baseball cap and wig at the scene An anonymous donor has offered $20,000 and Crime Stoppers is offering $5,000 for the safe return of this missing woman. You can remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777. You can also call HPD at 205-444-7562. The first picture is what Russell was last seen wearing before her disappearance.
Her wig was found at the scene so her hair will be in cornrows braided down to the scalp

Please help bring carlee home safely to her family and loved ones by spreading the word about her disappearance, this hits home for many because so many of us especially women would have done the same thing for a child in need of help. Please be careful out here in this depraved world ladies 🙏🏿
