We’ve been mixing almost exclusively on our beautiful Solid State Logic console over the past few months. Our clients absolutely love it. Our Intern, Justin, is seen here doing yet another recall for an upcoming mix session. And we’ve also had several clients recording to analog tape, in addition to mixing on the SSL.
They’ve been loving that too!

This film follows Wayne Perkins' zigzag journey during the musical heyday of rock and roll. He was a session player, and a sideman in demand. His iconic guitar licks can be heard in songs including Concrete Jungle and Sir It Up by Bob Marley and the Wailers, Joni Mitchell’s Car on a Hill, The Rolling Stones’ Hand of Fate, Glen Frey’s That Girl, Joe Cocker’s High Time We Went and many others. He later toured with Leon Russell for two years.

What a fantastic day it was with the band Highfield recording four new songs for them at BBR!  A great band and so much fun to work with. Thank you so much guys for coming out and recording with us. Let’s do it again soon! Great music with some great people!

Lately, we have been doing a lot of analog to digital transfers for different clients of 2 inch, 24 & 16 track masters from the 70's and 80's. Just had a client bring us a few 1 inch, 12 track masters from 1970, recorded at FAME. We've never tried that on our MCI machine, but the 1 inch reel played with no problem. Pleasantly surprised!

Another great session with Clay Campbell in studio B! Clay was in mixing four songs for the choir at First Baptist Church Trussville, where he is the worship pastor. Always great when you are here at Bates Brothers, Clay.

Ended 2024 with a great session tracking guitars and vocals with the rock band Southern Red. A huge “Thank You” to them for letting us work with them on this project!

Another incredible session with Jarrod Nichols and Marissa Luna! They were both in our Artist Suite, Studio B. Marissa sang the final vocals on Jarrod’s song “Hopeless”. Marissa nailed it as she always does. Thanks again Jarrod and Marissa!

Rocking out with the band Southern Red over the last few weeks at Bates Brothers.  Laying down some great southern rock and tracking everything to tape, as you should! David Yarborough and Brent Baldy lead this band of heavy hitters. And absolutely great time having them in and looking forward to more finishing up.

It was so great having Clay Campbell back at Bates Brothers recently. Clay is the worship pastor at First Baptist Church Trussville. He was in editing some music for the choir at FBCT. For 20+ years he was the worship pastor at Briarwood Presbyterian. During that time, Clay did multiple projects for Briarwood at the studio. He is a great friend and client and it’s always great having him at the studio!

Awesome session in Studio A recording a new song for Jarrod Nichols. Marissa Luna came in to do the vocals on this one and did an amazing job! Our A Team of musicians where there as well to produce a great track for Marissa to sing to. Thanks so much Jarrod! Always great having you at BBR!

Another great session with this group, The Alabama Boys. These guys have been recording with us since the late 90's and they are still going strong. One of our favorite clients and good friends. Gerald Williams and Michael Leverett head up this group, with Eric Sharper, of Dream Reality Records, producing and playing keys and bass. Proud and blessed to be a part of what they are doing!
