Hello everyone.
We want to let you know that our mom, Ruby Irene Bates, passed away on Wednesday evening. She was a glorious 96 years old. She passed peacefully in her sleep. She is rejoicing in Gods presence and seeing all our loved ones who have gone before. She was always so supportive of our career in music and recording. We wouldn’t have made it without her.
We love you mom! ❤️

The funeral will be Monday. Visitation at 1pm and the service at 2pm. It will be at Peoples Chapel Funeral Home in Hueytown.

Yesterday it was so great to have the multitalented musician/Producer/and our great friend, Charles Harnach in Studio B.
Charles was in working on a project for The Warblers with singer Wayne Atkinson.  Adding vocals to an upcoming project that they’re releasing. Always great to see Charles and it was great to meet Wayne.

George Vinson was in recently with Jarrod Nichols as well. Recording a new song with Jarrod called “ Another Thing or Two”.  It’s the same song that Gillian added fiddle to. George always does an incredible job and we have been working with him since the 80s. Thanks Jarrod and George!

Our UAB intern, Michael Bagby, doing recalls on the SSL for the new Big Band of Brothers project. This album is being mixed on our SSL console and then printed to our Sony tape machine for maximum analogue goodness. A beautiful combination!

Great day today at BBR! Both studio were busy with sessions. Evan Hart was in Studio A working on a 2026 album release with Eric Bates, and our UAB intern, Michael Bagby, was doing tape transfers in Studio B. Michael was learning the fine art of tape slicing!

The Bates Brothers are having an incredible week so far in New York with our great friend and client, Evan Hart. We are doing mastering on his new nine song project that will also be released on vinyl. We’ve been working with one of the top mastering engineers, Chris Gehringer, at Sterling Sound in Edgewater, New Jersey. Chris has worked with some of the top artist in the industry and has an amazing mastering facility. It’s been a great week!
But it’s really been about the Juniors Cheesecake! lol

Big Band of Brothers is back at BBR! We are so excited to start the BBoB 2.0. The first project was incredible, this one should be just as good. John Harvey and Tom Wolfe listening down to some of the first mixes. The first one made it to number two on the Billboard Jazz charts.
