After 5-rounds of group matchplay, Curtis McLaughlin absolutely crushed it on Star Wars for the W in Round 7 of AMAZING RACE finals. Join us January 26th at Story Screen Cinema in Hudson, NY as we celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Paul Newman flick, NOBODY’S FOOL, in the month that would have also been the actor’s 100th birthday.

The film was infamously shot in the Hudson Valley, specifically in Beacon, NY (our hometown!) and Hudson, NY (our new home!), so we couldn’t think of a better movie to celebrate!

This screening is presented in partnership with THE SPOTTY DOG BOOKS & ALE and GOVERNOR’S TAVERN!

Film Synopsis:

“APPRECIATION, The Tomiko Morimoto West Story”
An atomic bomb survivor shares her story of triumph in the face of tragedy in this sensational documentary short screening on Friday Jan 24th at 7pm.

This special screening will be accompanied by a post screening Q+A with the director, Michael Dwyer.

More on the film:
Tomiko Morimoto West watched from her schoolyard as a low-flying B-29 dropped the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima on August 6, 1945, killing her mother and other members of her family. Tomiko, then thirteen, searched the devastated city for the body of her grandfather to avoid the injustice of a mass burial, cremating him under mountain tree branches. She married an American GI, became a professor at Vassar College, and at age 91 has only one wish: that world leaders work together for global peace.

Appreciation, was featured in 10+ film festivals in 2023-24 and won several awards including Best Short Documentary at the Morehouse College Human Rights Film Festival. Dwyer also served as a producer on the Kunhardt Films production of Silent Witness which won a News and Documentary Emmy Award.

THE BIG LEBOWSKI screens Saturday, January 11th at 7pm at Story Screen Cinema!

To celebrate showing one of the funniest movies ever made, we’ll be slinging some delicious White Russians naturally, as well as some mouthwatering Sloppy Joe Sliders! And if you come in costume or even just your favorite bathrobe, you’ll get a free popcorn! Anybody can abide that.

NOTHING IS OVER!!! -Gizmo

Don’t miss our special screening of GREMLINS 2: THE NEW BATCH today at 4 PM at Story Screen Cinema! We had a blast screening the original GREMLINS as part of our October lineup (yes, we know it’s a Christmas movie!) and you all asked for a screening of the second installment, which just might be one of the wildest everything plus the kitchen sink sequels of all time. It’s a blast to watch on the big screen!

The magical collectibles store that Gizmo calls home has just been destroyed, and the tiny monster finds his way into a newly erected skyscraper. Billy Peltzer (Zach Galligan) and his bride-to-be, Kate (Phoebe Cates), who have previously dealt with Gremlins run amok, discover that Gizmo and an impish legion of reptilian pals are inhabiting the downtown building. The couple tries to stop the creatures from escaping into New York City, but this new batch of beasts might be uncontrollable.
