After over 40 years, REI confirmed it has ended its Experiences business to refocus on retail instead of classes and guided trips. The outdoor retailer REI announced this week it was exiting its “Experiences” business, ending all adventure travel trips, day tours, and classes. Granted, there are Abbey bike tools, PB Swiss, and other mega-expensive tools that some people geek out over, but buying a heavy, clunky multitool to toss in your jersey pocket or saddle bag is about as exciting as buying a new pair of 100% white cotton socks.
