Olivia is growing into such a beautiful warrior.

Vaelith’s voice echoed in my mind, deep and proud. “Well done, StarHeart. But the rift awaits. Let’s seal this breach before it has a chance to spread.”

We sprinted toward the rift, a jagged tear in the very fabric of reality. It pulsed with a chaotic, sinister energy, each beat vibrating with the promise of darkness waiting to spill through. I raised my hands, feeling my magic surge to meet it, and poured everything I had into sealing the rupture. The tear shimmered, resisting, as if fighting me tooth and nail. But at last—with a final, deafening snap—it sealed shut, leaving an eerie silence in its wake.

I sagged against Cade, my breath coming in heavy bursts. “That... was intense,” I panted, managing a weary grin. “But we did it.”

He brushed a stray lock of hair from my face, his eyes warm yet serious. “Of course we did. But I’m sure this is just the beginning.”

Vaelith rumbled with a low chuckle, folding his massive wings. "Not bad," he said, his tone filled with dragon pride.

Ariaxom swooped down to join us, landing with a grace that only further fueled his smugness. “I must admit, that was impressive. For humans,” he added with a smirk, his eyes gleaming with that familiar Dragonia arrogance.

I rolled my eyes but couldn’t help the grin that tugged at my lips. The Dragonia always had something to say.

Drathom landed beside us with a mighty thud, his dark scales glinting ominously in the moonlight. “Next time, let’s hope it’s something with a bit more bite,” he muttered, his eyes narrowing at the spot where the rift had been, as if daring it to reopen.

Cade laughed, pulling me closer. “I’d settle for boring missions any day,” he murmured, though his gaze remained sharp, scanning the clearing as if already expecting the next breach.

“Y’all are nuts, if you call that boring.” I said, shaking my head.
I leaned into Cade, exhaustion tugging at every muscle, but beneath the weariness was a deep sense of pride—and a lingering edge of worry. This was the first rift, but more were sure to come, likely stronger, each one clawing its way into our world with relentless fury. We’d need every drop of magic, every ounce of strength we had to keep them at bay.

In Her Dreams...
The mist parted, revealing a sunlit meadow alive with vibrant wildflowers swaying in the breeze. Weeping willows lined the edges, their long, delicate branches brushing the ground like the fringe of an ancient tapestry. The hum of life filled the air—soft, serene, perfect. And there she was. Olivia stood beside a chestnut horse, her hand resting lightly on its neck, her expression tender and unguarded.
"Aren't you a beauty?" she whispered, her voice a sweet melody carried on the wind. As if sensing her affection, the horse nickered softly. She tilted her head back, letting the warm sunlight bathe her face, and for a moment, the world stood still. The light danced around her, wrapping her in a soft glow, making her seem otherworldly—ethereal, yet unmistakably real.
My chest ached at the sight of her. She was more radiant than I’d imagined, and I knew, without a doubt, that no force in the universe could keep me from her.
I stepped forward, slowly, carefully. “Olivia,” I called, my voice low, not wanting to disturb the delicate peace of the moment.
Her head turned, and the instant her eyes met mine, a flicker of recognition passed between us. She froze for a breath, as if trying to place me—and then, like a flower blooming in the first warmth of spring, her lips curved into a soft smile.
“It’s you,” she whispered, her voice thick with wonder, “the man from my dreams.”
"You've dreamed of me?" I asked gently, my heart thundering in my chest.
She hesitated, her gaze flickering with uncertainty, but she gave a small nod. “I have... I just didn’t realize it until now.” There was something wistful in her voice, as though my presence filled a space in her heart she hadn’t known was empty.
I smiled, taking a step closer. "I'm Cadence, though most people call me Cade. You may call me whatever you like."

A Goddess, a prophecy, a sorcerer, an orphan girl who has no idea the power that dwells within her, and the vampire king who believes that he is her Fated Mate.

Sometimes finding out you’re a princess isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. But finding your Prince Charming makes it so much better. ** Yummy spice in this book 🌶️🌶️🌶️

The moment Olivia set foot on the staircase, the chatter of the court hushed into reverent silence. Nobles from every corner of Thalassa turned their speculative gazes, drawn to her like moths to a flame. Her dark hair cascaded over her shoulders, shimmering against the opulence of the hall. The gown she wore—colored like flames—billowed around her like the wings of the Goddess Vesperia herself.

Each step was measured and confident, the train of her dress whispering across the marble with every graceful descent. My chest swelled with pride for my newfound sister—for the way she carried the weight of prophecy and past pain with such poise. She had walked through fire and emerged not just alive, but ablaze with a power even she hadn’t fully realized yet.

When Olivia reached the ballroom floor, the guests couldn’t help but part before her—a sea yielding to the pull of an undeniable tide. Olivia Ilyndor, the lost princess veiled in mortal guise, had returned to claim her birthright—not with sword or shield, but with an allure that transcended mere physical beauty. And the most remarkable thing? She wasn’t even trying. She just… was. It was here, among the pillars of ice and whispers of admiration, that the real dance would begin—a dance of destiny, where magical worlds would collide, and fated hearts would yearn for union under the watchful eyes of the realms.

So a few sprays of liquid nitrogen and a small bit of lingering pain - hopefully it won’t blister and it’ll just peel away in a few days. Much better than cutting and a skin graft. Thanks y’all for all of your prayers, good vibes, and sweet words of encouragement. 🩷

I wrote a post five years ago that was about the most difficult I've ever had to write. An extended family member had called a few days before and asked if Marty would preach the funeral for her niece; her 13 year old niece. The circumstances were as tragic as you'd imagine. His sermon was a delicate and thoughtful as it could have been. And my post has the best advise for parents that I can think of. Love your children the best you can and pray for them. It's all we can do.

I'm not posting Favorites this week. For my final Friday Favorites I'm instead sharing a message and a tragic story of a life gone too soon.

Just got the BS notification from Facebook. My cover photo does not have smiling agents. It's NOT an altered photo. This is straight up lies. They're trying everything they can to erase the assignation attempt on Trump from history. It's election interference plain and simple. We will NOT be intimidated.

Living Life to the Fullest

Under a Texas Sky is a not just where I live my life, but it’s where all of my dreams come true. I’m Kelly and my hubs (The Mean Man) and I live in a tiny map dot of a town in central Texas. We’re renovating a 1901 Victorian Farmhouse and boy, has THIS been an adventure! So many people have told me that I’m living their dream... but sometimes it’s really more of nightmare. We’ve made great progress in the past year and a half and share lots of the renovation here and at underatexassky.com.

Under a Texas Sky is also a place to find craft projects, home decor ideas, and tutorials of all sorts. I am a Dixie Belle Paint Premier Retailer and spend tons of time refinishing old furniture using our products. I have a booth at a local antique mall where I sell the full line of Dixie Belle paints, stains, glazes, waxes, brushes, etc. I also sell online. I consider myself a furniture artist and love sharing the process with everyone. I also have lots of tutorials on wreath making and sign painting. I have a YouTube channel where I share a variety of tutorials.

I am wife, mom, friend, and Mimi (which is my favorite name). I have two grown daughters, two sons-in-law, and two beautiful granddaughters. My main goal is to provide a little inspiration encouraging you to make your world a more beautiful place.
