Our Story
Culinary artist and confectioner, Kenneth D Brooks Jr., serves as founder, head chef , and CEO of Masterpiece Desserts. He was born into a traveling military family in San Bernardino, California and raised between Houston, Texas and Washington D.C. Growing up, Kenneth always dreamed of becoming a doctor, and as a result, he participated in many activities such as playing on the football team, singing in the church, and school choirs just to stay active and work towards that dream. Making sure he stayed involved, Kenneth worked part-time jobs throughout his high school career to prepare for college.
After graduating high school he began his career as a Neuro Diagnostic Technician, and 4 years into his career he experienced a life-changing event that he was unprepared for. On March 3, 2014, Kenneth experienced cardiac arrest lasting over 4 minutes, which left him in a 3-day coma. With doctors uncertain if he would wake up, they proclaim this event would bring extreme trauma and leave Kenneth with severe brain damage. However, on March 6, 2014, he woke up with the gift of a vision and a skill. The vision is Masterpiece Desserts and the gift is baking the most delicious Cheesecake known to man, woman, and child.
