On October 3rd, Shavonnah Roberts Schreiber and Leisa Holland-Nelson took center stage at the 2024 Heart of Education Luncheon at the Junior League of Houston, emphasizing the life-changing power of reading.

Shavonnah shared, “There is nothing more important than education and learning to read, and so anything that we can ever do to help children, their families in general, read more and to focus on literacy, I think is a great idea.”

Leisa added, “I believe when parents don’t read, children don’t read, and when I got the opportunity to co-chair and co-host this event about children reading, I thought it was a great way to give back.”

As Dr. Seuss once said, “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”

This year’s luncheon raised nearly 30% more funds than last year, supporting initiatives like the Super Mentor program, which brings community members into classrooms to inspire children to love reading.

So, how will you inspire a child you love to pick up a book and unlock a world of possibilities?
