Think Peace Around the World
We're the media arm of Think Peace International, an organization made up of artists, educators, and social activists to build cultures of peace. We are also almost 10 years old (September 2008) and began in India at a young conference hosted by United Religions Initiative at the Iskon University in Mayapur, India. Our organization is multi-national, generational, and multi-faith.
Some of our work includes an annual peace camp that we’ve been involved with since before we began. Our co-founders Perri McCary and Rachael Watcher, created the podcast, The Witch and the Preacher’s Kid, an interfaith magazine formatted show. Think Peace developed the photo competition, 1000 Kalema, mentoring Morad al-Jarrah whose idea it was to do this interfaith competition. We have provided equipped to groups in other countries to be able to tell their story, and our best annual event is the International Day of Peace, which draws people from all walks in life to an entertaining evenings based on the IDP theme that year. Our biggest project was Our House by Artists at the famed Project Row Houses in Houston, Texas. Our House became a collective for artists who also were committed to activism in and throughout their community, from feeding the homeless to cleaning up our neighborhoods. Today, more than 70 artists from Our House have found their calling as both artist and activism. Last, this 10th Anniversary will finally unveil its magazine August and More, a journal of the last two decades of how art and peace, verbs for this millennial, can and does CHANGE the world.
